I have always enjoyed doing this and have not seen anything posted so far this year. If we want to do it, I am happy to compile the addresses and email them out to everyone. Anybody interested?

If you have not sent your mailing address to me, please do so by noon tomorrow so I can type up the list. Still room for more people if interested. Lighthouse cards can be purchased or home made. Only requirement is that somewhere on the card is a lighthouse or related item.

Got Ruthie and Stephanie's so far. Both great!

Getting the finishing touches on mine. It's a bit of a different concept, but I think it's going to work nicely. Hope to have them out by the end of the weekend...

Judy's, Tammy's, Hilari's and JoAnn's cards were in yesterday's post. All of them were quite lovely.

Finished addressing mine, will go into the mail tomorrow.

Judy...sorry, I'm sending the same card. However, just goes to show good taste can't be hidden, right? How lucky for you to live so close and get to see it for real laugh

Cards that have made there way to Alabama so far are: JoAnn, Judy & Paul, Hilari, Ruthie, and Suzanne. Also got a card from Bill & Nancy (not a lighthouse card... imagen that!)

After several years of doing this... my friends and family have cough on, they are also starting to send me Lighthouse Christmas Cards!!! Have received 3 so far this year from Non-lighthouse people who know what I like!!!

PS
Melody, you listed Tammy's card on the 16th... hummm I don't have that one yet. Funny how the Postal Service works sometimes!

I did receive Suzanne card, and also received a Christmas Newsletter from the Youngers. Got that a little while back.

Steph - maybe I'm mixed up about receiving Tammy's card (would not be the first time I was mixed up!!). I'll have to check again.

Went to the post office yesterday and mailed mine.

Erm...yes...I have to get on that.

Had a printer issue, and I couldn't corroborate it before I left. I could print them down here in NC, but I only have access to a black-and-white printer.

Needless to say, I didn't plan said delays...

Just an update...

I have managed to run out of ink in ALL of my printers. At once.

Thus, I am going to resort to making my cards at the local Walgreens, I think. Will try to get them out soon.

Sorry for taking a ridiculously long time to do this.

Print your cards and maybe you'll have them for next year.

Don't worry about them now. I'll consider your Christmas at Currituck photos your holiday greeting. I really enjoyed those.

Hey Greg,

If you still want to send a card why not send it as a Ground Hog Day or Valentine's Day card. Those are the next holidays on the calendar and the title did say Holiday Card Exchange.

I don't know WHY someone changed the name of this exchange to HOLIDAY when it is clearly a CHRISTMAS CARD EXCHANGE. I guess they were trying to be politically correct!

I guess I'm feeling my oats today, or maybe I'm just in a very bad mood. But by golly it's time that somebody put this subject in prospective.

This is a "Christmas Card Exchange". The thread should be opened for sign ups sometime in October with a cut off date by Thanksgiving. The mailing list sent to all participants by Nov. 30. And ALL cards MAILED between December 1st and the 15th.

Any card mailed after the 15th, most likely will not arrive in time for Christmas, because of the Postal backups at this time of year. And by signing up for this exchange you are inasmuch excepting the obligation of seeing to it that you fulfill your end of the deal in mailing your cards to everyone On Time !

I have enjoyed this Exchange over the years. And I have gotten some really great looking cards! I also hope to continue participating in this exchange every year as well. But I do want people to understand that the biggest thrill of this, is when display all these wonderful cards for your house guests to view and admire. But what fun is it, when a card comes AFTER you have taken them all down? Christmas is over!

I'll get off my soap box now, but that's how I see it!

Darlene,

Let me first say that "I'm sorry" if you took offence to my previous post. It was not my intent to offend. I think that you did a fine job! Especially being that the sign up started so late... this was not your fault. I thank you for stepping up to the plate and getting this started!

As you said in the opening post on November 21, 2008
Quote:
"I have always enjoyed doing this and have not seen anything posted so far this year. If we want to do it, I am happy to compile the addresses and email them out to everyone. Anybody interested?"
Yet even with the late start in sign ups you got the mailing labels out to all of us by December 2nd. You did your part, you did good! applaud As did most of the responders. smile

I just felt that some of the guidelines of this exchange needed to be expressed again. But I guess my post was about two months too late! Sort of like closing the barn door after the horses have all gotten out. whistling

But to answer you question: I can ... if anyone wants me too. I'll have to mark my calendar now so that I will remember to make the post come next Oct.

PS
I apologize to everyone! Yesterday was a really bad day for me! frown

Stephanie...I can understand your frustration. The same thing happens with the postcard exchange. I think I have participated in almost every exchange and yet I could name several people that sign up and never seem to get any postcards sent out from them.

I just wish people wouldn't sign up to participate in any exchange if they know it might be hard for them to get cards out to others.

I'm not trying to offend anyone...just my 2 cents worth.

I have participate in the Christmas card exchange the previous 2 years.
I really wanted to again this year but knew that I wouldn't be able to get my cards done in time. So I didn't sign up...really bummed me out because it is great fun! I agree with Shortcake about displaying and enjoying them during Christmas.
I have friends and family that have enjoyed them almost as much as I have...
I also understand things can happen after you sign up, but then you should let the other participants know right away. That way they know they will not be receiving a card from you and it is up to them if they want to send one to you or not.
I plan on getting my act together a little earlier this year. That way my cards will be done and ready to send by sign up.
Definitely is a bright spot in the season!!!No matter how rotten your day is going...it defintely lifts your spirit to get a lighthouse card in the mail.

Many thanks to Darlene for putting this year's exchange together.

Paul & I enjoyed the arrival of each of your cards, and displayed them for all to see. As this was our first Christmas together, he was amazed at all the lighthouse greetings that arrived at our home, and remarked about them to all our guests.

We're both looking forward to partipating in next year's exchange.

But next time, can we please call it the CHRISTMAS Card Exchange?

Judy
