Am I supposed to get email notifications when someone replies to a thread I've posted in or started?

I haven't gotten any so far and I have to keep coming back and checking.

Hi Phillygirl --

I'm suspecting that our automatic notifications are not working correctly. Including responding to those who have requested forgotten passwords being sent to them.

Please stand by for 48 hours. We're upgrading our underlying software and this issue should be resolved with the upgrade.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

In my five years on the CF, I've never gotten an email notification when someone posted in a thread I've started.

I thought the fun of this board is to keep checking for new posts.

You have to check the box at the bottom of the topic when you start it. It's under the Gremlins and above the add new topic button.

If you do not do that you will not be notified. It's not an automatic thing just because you start a topic.

I've never had a problem being notified when I do that- including on an old topic somebody unearths after months or even years.

Depending on your email set up and provider, the notification may also end up in your spam or junk mail folder. When the system address sends emails, many providers automatically send them to bulk mail. If you want to be sure to receive the notifications, you will have to be sure to add the address to your "safe" list to always send to your inbox. Not sure which address it sends from, but it will be a lighthousekeepers.com address.

Well, I have scads of other sites to keep track of and sites that I write for that take up way too much time. It would be nice to be notified so I can keep up with the threads I've started or posted in.
