Just purchased a RED Legacy HL MIB.... for $117, is this a decent deal?

If you wanted it, and your happy with it - it's a deal.
Enjoy your acquisition,
Bob

I agree with Bob. I good deal is where both the buyer and the seller are happy with the transaction.

Ditto Lamar and Bob, If it was a good deal for both buyer and seller than great.

Trust me there will come times when you will buy that just "have to have piece", and some "Wackos" will say the guys crazy and other "Wackos" will fully understand your reasoning .

Bob

PS Rain on the way in South Louisiana... its good we need it.

Congrats on getting the Red Legacy! There were only 2520 of those made and some dealers won't part with them. Hold on to it and it should be worth more than you paid for it in the future. It was a wise move to buy it why you could.

Like you guys said, a good deal is when buyer and seller are both happy. I am buying most of a dealer's stock that is discontinuing the Harbour Lights line at 50% off. Fortunately he has a red and blue legacy. He's happy to be rid of the old stock and I'm real happy in general. That is the best finds and he still has a few more pieces I didn't want, if anyone is interested in a Bolivar or Concord or Peggy's Cove at 50% off (and a few others I'll have to check the list for all of them) contact me by email and I'll get you his number. The way I see it anytime you can get HL'S at 50% off of retail that is a great deal. It's even sweeter when it's a rare piece.

Base on the above, I'd say your transaction has already been dubbed a Happy Meal, er, Deal.

As for your questions: its about the right price to pay ($115-$125 range) - assuming a MIB piece, you didn't get a 'great deal', but you didn't overpay either.

As of today, the Red Legacy rates a -70 on the Argand Wick Factor scale (see 'By the Numbers') - that ranks it at #40, almost entirely based on its lower edition size.

Congrats on your new piece,
__

Quite interestingly for so low a number produced there seems to always be one or more for sale on ebay. Take into account the collectors who are keeping theirs and it make you wonder just where they're coming from. There is one at full retail (blue) here in town but it is chipped.

I think it is a good deal and I am very pleased with the responses that you have gotten to your posting. Hope you enjoy the Red Legacy very much. Oh, I'm the sellerof the piece.

It was an extra that I purchased from a dealer who was no longer going to carry Harbour Lights. It's hard to pass up older pieces, etc. when you have the chance to get them at retail or less. It's part of collecting to me.

Hey bottom-feeder, looks like both the buyer and seller were satisfied. Can't do better than that.

But next time, maybe you should post that question BEFORE you buy. "..I've got a chance to buy a Coquille River for $125. Is that a good deal???" For example.

John, How many months worth of $125/month is that Coquille really going to cost? Even if it was a years worth it could be a great deal for someone.

Another great day of HL bargain hunting. Found a Legacy Red for retail today. When you find pieces like this you just have to buy them.
