Ebay has another listing for Coquille River. Actually it appears to be the same listing as before -- the one sitting on the grass. Another try?

Daniel,

This is definitely the same piece that was posted back in September. The reserve was NOT met, and the bidding ended at $1126.01 with a start of $1.

Now it is listed again by the same person for a minimum of $2000.

It sure looks like the same one that never sold the last time it was offered. I would guess that the seller will get zero bids on it this time. The minimum bid of two grand is more like an asking price that an opportunity to place a bid. That type of maneuver discourages spirited bidding and just maybe a sale for more than one might expect.

The seller should have put the minimum bid within reach of the average collector and set his or her reserve price to protect their investment. That way much more interest would have been generated which might have brought in a collector willing to pay the higher price via a bidding war.

Maybe the seller has second thoughts about losing possession of the treasured piece. Yet again, most anything is for sale for the right price.

The Ebay auction for Coquille River has ended. The seller wanted $2000. And how about that? NOT ONE SINGLE BID.

I'm not surprised it ended with no bids. That wasn't an auction. It was a "for sale" ad.

Many people paid more than $2000 in the good old days, but they won't do it now.

The seller should consider relisting it with an opening bid of less than $100, and a very comfortable reserve of around $1,500. There might be a chance to find a new owner that way.

A wise old collector told me one time that not everyone bought their extremely valuable pieces at retail. Some people paid premium prices and now hope to at least recover their initial investment. Now they are finding out that they may not be able to do that.

Your #43 Coquille is a great find.
It is one thing to have a Coquille but to have a California made two digit is fantastic.
Wish I had one. laugh
