My intent was not to pry into someone's business, to post using any slanderous or offensive terminology or anything closely related; my observation was that someone was doing some serious spending/bidding on a piece (which is each person's right if that's what they wish and can afford), and the name looked familiar. My analogy was not towards anyone, but a somewhat quick witted, and hopefully humourous analogy of those said actions; thought provoking enough to get the point across, but not thought provoking enough to over analyze and become offended due to misconceptions that were not intended. Kinda like if I said someone was a nervous as a tick at a matchmaker's convention; you would get the idea about ticks not liking matches so they must REALLY be nervous, not that match maker's dont have a convention, or they wouldn't have matches with them, or offending ticks...or dogs that dislike ticks...Get the picture? wink confused

I apologize and don't want to make more of this than has already been made or needs be, but hopefully people will be more understanding of my sense of humour and not be too sensitive, while I will try and remember that not all people are of my age (physically or mentally :p ) on this list.

There was nothing wrong with your post Steve. If there was, then maybe the two of us should seek professional help for our seriously demented and misguided senses of humor.

I didn't find anything wrong with it. By now, I've kind of figured out your sense of humour, Steve...and I like it. However, it's somewhat different, and I know sometimes it passes over my head (as do a lot of things). Maybe it's because of my age, and I don't have the background to understand them. But maybe sometimes, the reader has to be in the same humour "zone" as the joker.

There's a lot of these "zones", we're all in different ones. Maybe some people just didn't understand yours?

I didn't find anything wrong with it either, it was obviously in jest.

Over the past few years these boards have slowly lost their collective sense of humor, maybe the age of the newer collectors is going up or it is attracting a more narrow minded group than earlier years. Maybe it's time to bring a bunch of insurance salemen to liven the place up.

I am coming into this late.

But I know several people who'd just as soon keep their ebay identity private. That's partly because they may be bidding against another CF member or friend outside of CF.

Best not to expose a friend's identity without their permission IMHO.

All points are well taken, and if I didn't have a back log of outgoing attempts on Outlook Express, I would've reached you Daniel with my personal reply, but since it just fell in cue, I figured the only way to acknowledge your e-mail, and to "clear the air" with anyone else who may have agreed with you, was to bring it here. As far as I'm concerned, it's over.

Thanks all for the pro and con comments! wink
