Question? How could Cape Charles have 1995 on it when it was made in 2004? Hal

Zoom in on the flag.
It saids 2004
The seller just did a type-o.

I noticed that each picture of the Yaquina has more and more rain on the box.
The Yaquina was painted with water base paints. wonder what it looks like now.

This is somewhat confusing, to say the least. I remember talking to Bill one time and he told me that sometimes pieces would disappear (5-finger discount) from the HL warehouse. I guess the key to solving this questionable flag #10 would be to ask Bill. I would think he would know if the Cape Charles flag #10 was donated at one time or another.

Is it just a coincidence that the seller's mom has passed away and he lives in San Diego? Could it be that the Cape Charles was released accidently (once again, 5-finger discount) without a flag# and someone added it at a later date?

The seller is innocent unless someone can prove otherwise, let the buyer beware! The plot thickens!!!

Bob, I don't think there is any plot.. The last couple of years we received a #10 and a #7 in our club giveaway box from Harbour Lights.. I am sure all of the club's received one or two low numbers in their boxes also.. They were on current lighthouses and both LE's and OE's..

Most of the disappearing low numbers were of older lights a few years back..

They also would give dealers an occasional low number lighthouse if they needed something for a new dealer to get them started, that's how I found my #9 Regular Edition Kim AB ship, at a dealer..

I would be more worried about the Yaquina in the rain, hopefully the only drops were hitting the box...

I believe that the chances of finding a ten or lower thru a dealer’s regular stock is next to none. But at the many events Bill does give away low numbers. At the St Aug regional many single digits have been given away. A Sand Island #2, A St Augustine L.E. #7 and several other lighthouses with low numbers have been given away.

The only concern I would have is why the area around the number ten is lighter than the rest of the area like the original number was rub out. The number itself looks good just like other number 10’s I have seen. There is a number 10 on the box which is also another good sign.
Does everyone else’s Cape Charles have a light area behind the number?

All of the #10's were being used to either give clubs or at Regionals, especially all of the recent lighthouses, for the past few years..

Does anyone have their Cape Charles handy to confirm Dan's inquiry. My Cape Charles is BITSR (buried in the stock room) so I can't confirm how the flag looks.

 Bob

On my Cape Charles #212 the area that the serial number is in is about 2-3 shades lighter then the rest of the flag.

The area around the number on my Cape Charles #509 is lighter than the rest of the flag. I hope this eases your concern.
