"Supply and demand"... once all the dealers get their autoships and most of the people are able to obtain one, the actual value will settle at a point just above the current retail. Some people panic and fear being left out when they hear all of these wonderful pieces are accounted for. I say be patient...all comes to those who wait (and search with a little help from their HL friends).

Well put Bob. I learned from my mistakes of the past, jumping the gun and paying secondary price when there are plenty to be had at retail, (Grosse Point). Now, I'm patient and have found a few at retail, (Point Arena and Sanibel) that I could have easily overpaid for. Patience persists, buyer be-aware!

As of this morning there are seven listings on EBAY. This is why I believe club members should have first choice on pieces like this. Why should loyal collectors have to pay double just because they don't have a dealer close by or that their dealer is only getting one or two pieces ????

Hey, Lightkeeper! ..Patience is a virtue and could also save a lot of people a lot of money. People shouldn't be so quick to pay a premium price for the piece. There will be pieces to be found with a little help from your forum friends or maybe even R@R. My advice is to wait and see. If per chance you strike out well then that would be the time to pay the inflated price, not now.

Bob, I am not so much speaking for myself as for other collectors who can't so easily secure a piece. I have purchased the lens at my local dealer. I agree with you about being patient, but that still does not excuse the fact that HL could have offered this piece being as unique and limited as it is to club members first.

Lightkeeper... I understand what you are saying, but then, not everyone can be members of a club. It would be unfortunate for someone to be discriminated against simply because there is no HL club in their area. But then, that has happened recently. Hang tuff... I'm sure there will be a few show up, and as for the rest of us Wackos... we will keep our eyes and ears opened just in case one does!

I am not talking about a local club. I am talking about the Harbour Lights Collectors Society of which I believe that anyone can be a member.

Sorry for the confusion Lightkeeper. When you said "club" as opposed to "society" I assumed. You are correct, anyone can be a member of the Collector's Society.

Hi Lightkeeper, ...In a way the HL Collector's Society members are usually the first to know when a new piece is being offered. Taking into consideration a 4000 edition piece and who knows exactly home many members we have in the Collector's Society (maybe 25-30 thousand?), some people may be hard pressed to find a lens. I guess it all comes back to the quick and the bitten. How many members have or must have them all. Time will tell...

The problem with finding a Lens magnifies how important it is to have a good relationship with a reliable dealer. If you deal with the same dealer all the time, you can get to be an "automatic" when anything new comes out. My dealer puts me down for one of everything, and I tell them if I want it or not. This helps to insure I get any piece I want.

I have the same relationship with my dealer. I get one of everything and if I don't want it, I don't have to purchase it. I haven't refused anything yet...
