Hi!!! laugh

Marblehead, Mass. Lighthouse, you will always have a very special place in our hearts. ....We've made the journey as far south as New Jersey, as far north as Canada. Over 100 lighthouses visited.... and so many more to go.

Thanks for the welcome!! I am a teacher currently assigned to teach at the University of North Florida and work with Clay County's beginning teachers. My husband, Bill, and I have been collecting Harbour Lights for about 5 years now. Our children sent us to St. Augustine for our 25th wedding anniversary and we found a shop that carried them and came home with 10 to start the collection! Presently, we have 65 (just picked up Mayport yesterday). Last summer, we motored down the Intracoastal from Jacksonville to Key West and visited several lighthouses along the way. The most impressive was American Shoals. Unfortunately, the boat didn't have the fuel capacity for us to travel to the Dry Tortougas...Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome Janet. Glad to see another Floridian among the lighthouse friends here. I agree with American Shoals being an impressive lighthouse, though Fowey Rocks is my favorite of the Reef Lights. Out of the 30 here in Florida, the only ones I haven't visited are: Fort Jefferson, Loggerhead Key (both in the Dry Tortugas), Sand Key, and Carysfort.

If you are interested in visiting the Lighthouses of Florida and in helping to restore and preserve these beautiful pieces of maritime history, you should join the Florida Lighthouse Association. We usually get to go to and climb lighthouses that aren't usually open to the public. In May we will be holding our second quarterly meeting. We will be climbing the Crooked River Lighthouse, the Cape San Blas Lighthouse, and may even be allowed to visit and tour the St. Joseph Bay Lighthouse. These three lighthouses are not usually open for public touring. To join, visit FLA Website . Hope to see you there.
