This is continued from the original thread, found here . At this point I am continuing to work on a possible visit to Cape Canaveral. One suggestion to those working on travel plans: Don't plan on leaving until as late as you can on Sunday (or wait 'till Monday.) If you are interested in the possibility of a visit, please do not post here, but send me an email at this address (take out the spaces...:c a p e - t r i p @ sbcglobal.net.Once I have your email, I will keep you posted on what the status is.

Thanks. I was hopeful this might stand a chance of working. It is also helpful to know if I should plan to come earlier or stay later. I still need to make some hotel plans, so this helps. I'll keep checking the Forum.

Sounds great, Dave. I'll still keep my fingers crossed that it all comes together without a hitch. We'll plan to leave late on Sunday, and stop somewhere on the way back to Virginia.

Hey! Or maybe, double HEY!
First time I've been on the forum in months, and it accepted my name and password. Thanks John for pulling the necessary strings for me to get back,
WOW! What's happening. If like always I'm not too late i'll look into this thing. Better make it though, that 4th of July thing in San Francisco is a mighty long distance away. Don't mind driving from here to the mid-west, but trip from the south end of the bay to SF is a mighty long trip.
Somebody save me a spot.

Ancient Mariner, Fred, if you are serious about making the trip to the Regional in St. Augustine, check the original thread for more information. There is a dinner with the Youngers on Friday night and you need to make reservations for it.

I just received my St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum Festival packet. Looks like the dinner will be held off the lighthouse grounds at Columbia Resturant downtown St. Augustine, and the menu looks delicious. Looks to be a lot of fun.... The folks at the lighthouse and museum have added a book with a sightseeing map, so there will be plenty to do. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, and new friends!

I have been to the Columbia Resturant. It is an up-scale resturant in the middle of old town. It is an old spanish style building right down to the restroom name. They have pictures for those that don't know spanish.
I cant beleive they can fit 150 at this place. I think it does has three floors and like many buildings at old town they are bigger than they look.

Just received my packet and dinner tickets for the Lighthouse Festival for the regional at St. Augustine. I was wondering where everyone is staying? The packet listed the following packages.
Sleep Inn $69.95 Hilton Garden Inn $109.00 Hampton Inn $119.00 Howard Johnson $79.00 Comfort Inn $79.00 These prices are special rates per night. They said the Sleep Inn is the closest to the lighthouse. Maybe we can come up with a Wacko gathering someplace during the festival. Anybody have any suggestions? Hal

Hal, Many of us are staying at the Sleep Inn. It is a nice hotel, fairly new, and is the closest to the lighthouse.

Esther & I will be staying at the Sleep Inn. Dave (Hannum) reccomended it earlier and it's the cheapest. I have reservations for Fri, Sat & Sun night but may not stay there Sun. It looks nice on the website- and the price is definitely right.
I can live without the beach in northern Florida in March- especially since we'll be staying in Key West for 3 days prior to St Augustine.
As for a Wacko Gathering I think we need someone with some knowledge of the area to give us some ideas. Hopefully Sunday will have a special visit for many if the master plan comes off.
I'm game for having a gathering of some sort Saturday either at the Festival or in the evening.

HI!! I'm new to the forum. This is my 1st attempt to post and hope I'm doing things correctly. I'm going to the St. Augustine regional and have already reserved a room at the Sleep Inn. Hope it is as much fun as the folks in our club say. But having been in Baltimore we know it will be. To Wheland: We will be in Key West until the 17th. Might there be a way we could get together there? We are always looking to meet other HL collectors.

Jim, call the hotel directly and ask that your reservation be changed to the block for the Lighthouse Festival and at the reduced rate.

I have a request to make of my fellow connected collectors. Could someone out there pick up two event buttons for me from this event? I would gladly make a donation to your favorite lighthouse in exhange for the buttons.

We too, will be staying at Sleep Inn. Maybe they should change the name of the motel for the weekend and call it "Wackoville Inn"! Looking farward to seeing all of you. It should be a GREAT weekend for all! Stephanie

Ed14 I have been at the last three St Aug events. Every one has been Sunny and in the middle to high seventies. That time of year you may want a light jacket for the evenings especially if you are near the water.

I spoke with Michael Cunningham at St. Augustine Lighthouse today and he said they sold out of about 180 tickets - have a few people on a waiting list.
If the weather is nice, they might draw 7,000 visitors to the two-day Lighthouse Festival so we won't be alone!
Got your room reservation yet?

I hope all the wackos have fun in Sleep Inn/Wackoland. We opted for the romantic version of St. Aug and will be close to the restaurant over at Casa Monica. New/first time parents need all the romance they can get and we have the grandparents babysitting for us. We may need to visit the Fountain of Youth as well, just to help us when our little one gets to the toddler stage, which appears will be soon.

Well, I made my 1st post and it worked. Anyway as a relatively new HL collector I'm still trying to figure the Forums out . i've been to the Reunion In Baltimore and it was "FAAAANTASTIC". I assume the regional will be on a smaller scale and just as much fun. Any suggestions about what to expect. Thanks, Rick

Rick,
Welcome to the Forums.
At this point I don't think anyone knows what to expect as this is a whole new format for Harbour Lights. This event will be different from any of their previous regional events so we will all be experiencing it for the first time.

Stephanie, since no one else is willing to post you an answer, I will try. Awhile back we were invited to a birthday party that was at a resort. On the party invitation they put for dress Smart Casual . As it turned out everyone was dressed like they were going to a casual wedding, not formal but better dressed than going to the park for a picnic. Hope this helps some. Ruthie

I am planning to wear a pair of khakis and a club shirt to the dinner. Jeans everywhere else! I think this is more than appropriate. If they wanted real "dress up" they would have indicated that in the info. You know Bill will be wearing a tie, but he is old school and probably even wears a tie in the shower......

MJ and I are really looking forward to seeing all of you there. I will NOT be in a sun dress though (and I'd bet MJ won't either). See you all soon.

Well, it's about a week away and I can't believe it's here already. Robert and I are leaving out of Chesapeake, VA. Friday evening to attend the CCUSLHS Board Meeting on Saturday and then starting the drive South, stopping at as many lights that we can. We are also going on down to Boynton Beach to visit my cousins. Then will be in St. Augustine Wednesday evening.
Looking forward to seeing and meeting all of you.
