Around Christmas we got a call from Kim asking us to figure out something special for our lighthouse walk. Of course I asked for The Foghorn, otherwise known as the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal North Pierhead Light! (What a mouthful!) As a kid I used to skateboard inside the thing with my best friend, the daughter of the chief. Quite the experience when it started blasting away!

Since I'm a neighbor in good standing, I've arranged a tour up the U.S.C.G. tower for the HL collectors who attend that weekend. See WILD for more details.

When I grew up all we had were roller skates with a key to adjust them... :rolleyes: Maybe I'm dating myself here LOL

Anyway, it's always good to know somebody when it comes to lighthouses!!

Bad news!!!! The Coast Guard Chief, Rich Huph, at the Sturgeon Bay Canal Station just stopped in to let us know his commander in Milwaukee decided to cancel our tour of the tower! He thinks it would be too complicated that weekend. But they said we could arrange a tour for some other time. There's one catch, however, Chief Huph is retiring on July 15th!!! We'll have to talk it over when you'all get here. I'm so bummed! Bureaucrats!

That really stinks!! I was really looking forward to getting to climb the tower.
