I've been good for a couple of months now. I haven't bought any HLs in about three months. I was pretty good before then if you don't count the 14 that I bought in February. Then, yesterday afternoon, I just happened to walk by a Harbour Lights display case in Geist, and saw the Spring and Summer versions of Fort Tompkins. Needless to say, I brought them home with me. Now I have the craving ( call it what you will ) to go out and purchase several others that I've been holding off on buying. I'm kind of weighing my options - wedding or Harbour Lights, Harbour Lights or wedding...hmmm. Tough choice!

I'd pick the wedding and send out a want list to the invited guests about which Harbour Lights to purchase as presents. I think that with that approach you would have all the bases covered. Let's here it from other forum members! WHAT DO YOU THINK? LET'S HELP OUT HERE! Bert

Don't laugh too hard, but that idea has popped into my head more than once. As tempting as it is, I'm not sure how well that would go over with Pam. I'm guessing it wouldn't.

Never hurts to try! All she can say is no! (LOL)
I'm going to cringe when my credit card bills show up next month! Two events last weekend and lots of new lights in the house!

I know the bug to buy and it is tough to beat. For the month of June I was not to buy a Harbour Lights piece. You see I violated the budget by getting more than one Harbour Lights piece in April while in California. Unfortunately, for June I now have 3 pieces and it is only the 2nd week of the month. As a result of this I am toast for the rest of the month, except for a truce on the 19th. Something that I have learned in 20 years of marriage as of June 19th, which is the reason for the truce. Always try to go 50/50 if you can. Here what I suggest: 1.) Take Pam to your local dealer and you both register, you each have your own list. That way you both get something you desire besides 3 or 4 toasters. 2.) After the wedding, when you return the 3 out of 4 toasters you get for the wedding return them for cash. Then you split the cash 50/50 and buy something for the house. I think HL would be best. It is time for some creative financing and GOOD LUCK AND MUCH HAPPINESS TO YOU AND PAM. 20 years and loving it Chuck ------------------ bigdragon [This message has been edited by shiulong (edited 06-15-2002).]

You know, that's not a half bad idea...I just might do that. Congratulations, on 20 years. That's really exciting! And yes, I know what you mean about creative financing. I've creatively financed myself to about 50 or 60 lighthouses. Not as many as I'd like to have, but enough that I need to rethink the overall decor of my house.

Jared,
Just tell her your addition could be worse... you could be suffering the same afflication that I do... it has Nikon in neat little white letters usually on camera bodies and lenses! Makes my HL purchases seem pretty modest in comparison.

Gary, that's an excellent point. I'd always kind of thought of this as an expensive hobby. When you compare it to photography, I guess it's relatively cheap! Unfortunately, if I were to complete my collection, it would cost me several thousand dollars that I don't have. Oh well, maybe once I hit the lotto....
