Continued from this thread .

Sorry to break it off in the middle of a discussion, but it was over the post limit.

The last couple posts were from Grace and Fran:

Judy, those pointers will help a whole lot. If this trip materializes, then I will fly in Thursday night so that a very early morning start will be feasible. However, I will do it only if I can get other people to make the trip, too. Fran won't be arriving until Friday, so she probably won't be able to make it. She doesn't mind driving, but I sometimes have a bit of a problem when I don't know the area. I am going to ask around to see if anyone else is interested. It would be disappointing to miss these lights since they are so close by. Of course, doing this on Monday is a possibility, too. Will any of these lights be open on Friday and/or Monday?

We are still thinking of doing a week before in N.Carolina for vacation. but if not I will be leaving from Assateque and a relative Fri morn. Does anyone know how long it will take to get to the Hotel in VA from Assateque. I could probably do Hatteras bodie and currituck and be back at 8:00 pm to VA leaving at 10:00am. I think it takes 3hrs. to Hatteras from VA hotel. Maybe earlier if it dosn't take to long to get to VA on Fri. If that is the case I know Grace wants to go I have room and will take others. Still working on plans. I have Grand Caravan holds 7. my husband will probably not go he plays golf. Sorry if I ramble. To excited love these trips.

I will be going and I one of the ones that will have to leave Sunday night, as the following week we are not allowed off due to the computer conversion the following weekend. However, will be coming up to the Virginia area June 16th. My wife Susan wants to re-visit Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown area which can easily take a day (more depending what you see). I will want to also want to go back to Jones Point Lighthouse (Alexandria, Virginia near Washington D.C.) to take better pictures. I would also like a closer view of Wolf Trap and New Point Comfort.

By the way Virginia has 2 replica screw pile lighthouses, Stringray (Western Chesapeake somewhat near Smith Point) and Plantation Flats north of Cape Charles (will need a pass to get in, but I had no problem) this one was built by the developer of the housing development, but they did a lot of research and it is only 2 miles from the remains of the original (only platform left). Later in the Map section I will post some pictures from my fall 2005 trip that include Virginia Lighthouses.

Sounds like you have a really nice trip planned, Eric. I hope I can find some people who want to go to Currituck, Bodie, and Hatteras on Friday. So far, everyone seems to have other plans. I can't make it more than a three day weekend, unfortunately.

Grace, I'll be coming down with the Seery's and as far as I know we're making it a 3 day also. I have to check with Hilari (new member HCS) and see when we're leaving. I know that they want to do some extra lights too. Maybe we could meet there and all travel together? I was going to take my trailer but the campgrounds are maybe 20-30 minutes away WITHOUT traffic so I decided not to.

Just keep me posted. According to Judy and Eric, it's important that this side trip start out early Friday morning. I've never had the opportunity to see these lights, so I hope it works out.

I am not sure that this has beem addressed all ready but I have been wondering.
Can we still go to the regional event even if we didn’t sign up for the Tidewater.

So, has everybody sent Dave their registration money? Or am I the only one prone to last minute stuff?

Mine went early on. I'm so glad I'll be able to meet some of the CF friends whom I don't already know in person.

Well, I've been excited about this trip. I am excited, and really looking forward to it. Waiting until the last minute could have been procrastination on my part...or, it could be the age factor.

Yesterday, I actually had to refer to my driver's license to give the insurance agent my house number, and I've been here since 2001. eek But- at least I remember yesterday!

And Dave, no it wasn't the margaritas laugh

In the past I have waited to long and missed out on some things so when I really want to do something the check goes in or the mind forgets to remember.

Grace, I am looking forward to that too.

We will be driving down with TomK. Hope to stop at Assateague on the way and plan to stay over to do the Outer Banks on Monday.
Looking forward to it and meeting new folks.

That's great, Hilari. We need to take advantage of every trip by seeing as many lights as possible. Sounds like you, Jim and Tom are going to be able to do just that.

Fearing I would forget to mail a check in time, I just trusted Dave with my Mastercard# and he is handling the payment processing for me laugh

My mother (she lives in Hampton) will be joining me on this trip, and we are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

I'm all set also.
I am also interested in checking out Wolf Trap and New Point Comfort on Friday or Monday.
Anybody else?

I found a charter for Wolf Trap and Point Comfort. It takes 6 people for a total of $350 ($60. per person). I don't know if it would be in the morning or afternoon of Friday. Maybe both if there are enough people. Still waiting for questions to be answered from the Captain. If you are interested let me know and which, morning or afternoon. Email me at fra02441@msn.com and put Wolftrap for subject. I have never organized anything like this before so if you have a suggestion let me know.

At this point, I will be arriving Thursday night. However, there is still a chance that I can make it there Wed. night so I can join Fran and her husband on the day trip to Assateague.

I'm in for Wolftrap on Friday Fran. I would prefer an early afternoon trip if it is available. If the morning trip is all that is available then that would also be fine. I would just have to leave Charlotte in the middle of the night. Count me in.

Well, the Bradys are back!! Sue has been able to shift around her schedule a bit in June so we are coming to the Portsmouth Regional weekend... We hope to make it in by Friday afternoon and then race back to Indy on Monday and Tuesday afterwards..

It means I will be able to bring those who can't make it along for the ride in the forums..

Late Tueday I sent out an update email to all those coming to Portsmouth. Those of you who use AOL can thank your provider for overprotecting you, because they apparently no longer allow group emails to be delivered. As I have time I will resend them one by one. It would be a great help if you would add my primary email address to your "accept mail from" list if at all possible.

Man, that no group emails would drive me nuts. As you know Dave, I use them quite a bit with my NELL duties. I'm limited by MSN to 50 address per email and even that can be a pain.

Yes Tom group e-mail is a pain. We use it at work and boy do we get bounce backs!
