I had to start off the day with a flower shot for Mom and Mombo...

They get two shots because I couldn't decide which one to start with...

We went Point Montara which is just a little north of Half Moon Bay on HWY 1.

I last saw this lighthouse in 1978 during our last trip to the San Francisco area. The quarters are used as a youth hostel. The grounds were closed when we arrived. We missed it being open by a couple of hours.

Next stop down the coast, Pigeon Point Lighthouse. The grounds were open but the tower was closed for repairs at this time.

I believe that Pigeon Point is the first lighthouse that I ever saw as a young child. It was nostalgic going back after all of these years.

I spent some time at Pigeon Point talking with John Chidester on my cell phone sharing our adventure.

Santa Cruz Lighthouse, torn down in 1948, was rebuilt in 1969 as a memorial to teenager Mark Abbott, a surfer who drowned nearby.

Santa Cruz West Breakwater (Walton Lighthouse), California's newest lighthouse, was activated in 2001 and was built by private funds.

I shot this image on the way back to the car from the newest Santa Cruz Lighthouse. The flowers in the neighborhood were gorgeous.

Point Pinos was a new lighthouse for us, since we had not seen it before.

The flags at all of the lighthouses were at half mast honoring the passing of Ronald Reagan.

As you can see, the clouds moved in as we arrived at Point Pinos. Wouldn't you know it? A white lighthouse and a white sky!

This shot is for Nancy Younger....similar to a shot she loved of Old Point Loma that I shot at the first reunion.

One last look back at Point Pinos as we head back to Oakland.

Here's one I tried from the backside using the fence but I still like the front side one better..

Sorry, we didn't get to any lights today, but we did have a picnic lunch at a Great Winery in Sonoma Valley... Ken Reese joined Sue and I and a million others and headed North on I80, luckily they weren't all going to the Wine Country.. The following are some flower images from the entry way at the winery..

I couldn't leave the valley without at least one image of the vineyards!

Back at our new hotel for the next two nights, the Waterfront Plaza Hotel. Since this is the view from our room, the hotel is aptly named!

We ate dinner at the Bistro in the hotel and the above image is of Sue's dessert!!

Paul, thanks for the shot of the vineyards. My second favorite thing to visit in CA!
