I had surgery to repair the torn Peroneal Tendon in my left ankle on April 14th. Surgery went well and I am now at home sitting with my foot up. My ankle/foot has to be non-weight bearing for 10 weeks! I plan to be home for 4 weeks and won't be able to walk when I go back to work. Right now I am trying to take it easy and let the ankle heal. I am house bound because of the steps to both doors of my house. I have to wait until the 28th to get stitches removed. No lighthouse climbing for me this summer. I have books, magazines, a laptop, and the TV remote control within an arms reach.

...and lighthousing on the Forums, Suzanne.

Get well soon!

Didn't you have knee issues a few years ago? I remember a discussion at the top of Fire Island.

Sorry to hear that you'll be laid up so long Suzanne. I have a friend who also had a similar surgery and she's in the same boat.

Enjoy being waited on if you can. Those opportunities don't come along very often for us ladies!!!

Thanks everyone for the best wishes.

Gee Mombo, it would be nice to be waited on, but I live alone so thats not happening. I do have some friends helping with grocery shopping. I lent my car to my son so he could drive here and help me with laundry and take garbage to the curb. Some people at work have brought some meals to my home once a week. Pam drove me to the doctor last Wednesday where they took out the stitches and put on a fiberglass cast. I still cannot walk on it and have to keep my foot raised.

Sitting still was driving me crazy so I started cross stitching lighthouses again. I want to be out in the garden, but I cannot do that.

I had a little excitement the other day when a chipmunk got in the house. Hopping on one leg, holding onto a walker with one hand and a broom in my other hand and with my cat Katie doing round up, we got the chipmunk out of the house.

Bob Scroope - I haven't had any work done on my knees. I only have trouble with my knees when I walk down too many stairs. I was probably worried because Fire Island is so tall.

I am now 8 weeks post op from Peroneal Tendon Surgery. I spent 5 weeks in a fiberglass cast with no weight bearing on the foot and 3 weeks wearing an Air-Cast Boot and weight bearing with walking using crutches and/or walker.

Today I got permission to transition out of the Air-Cast Boot to an ASO (Ankle Stabilizing Orthosis) ankle brace and shoe.

Well, I tried that when I got home and I cannot walk. My ankle feels like JELLO. I guess I have some muscle building to do.

Suzanne, glad to hear you are moving on but it sounds like you will have to do some physical therapy to get through the rest. Just take care and don't push yourself too much and I'm sure you will be on your feet real soon. Sending you more prayers and hugs.
