It's been a really sad day at the Brady home today… We had to put our cat Comet to sleep this morning. It was over 19 years ago when I remember helping his mom, Taffy, deliver him into this world. Our son, Chad, who was just a young boy of eleven, claimed him immediately as his own… we had two female Siamese cats already at the time and hadn't planned on keeping any of the kittens, but Chad had Comet. We added a fourth (kitten from the other female cat's litter the next year) to the group and we had four cats for years. The other three cats died one by one over the years and it has been Comet owning the Brady home for the past five years or so by himself. He has had to take medicine (every day) all of his life for allergies and for thyroid problems the last five years (that's a lot of pills) so 19 years is really amazing but it just isn't going to be the same when I get home tonight without Comet wanting some attention and getting it…

Comet lived a long and no doubt enjoyable life with the Bradys.

I understand your loss and sympathize with you both. Squeeker sends his regrets, too.

RIP Comet

"Lucky" (my cat) and I also send our regards to your loss. It takes situations like this to realize that some pets really DO become members of the family. RIP Comet frown

Jeff and I were very sorry to hear about your loss. 19 years is a long time for a cat to be part of your family. He sounds like he had a wonderful life with the family.

Our dog Rusty has gone through this loss in the last week and a half after we had to put his buddy Cody to sleep.

Pets are a constant in our lives. No matter what you do away from home they are always there for you when you come home at night.

I was very sorry to hear about the loss of Comet but it does sound like he had the best of lives. Most people when it comes to giving meds to their pets every day would rather get rid of the pet. They just don't want to be bothered by giving meds to a "pet" every day. You and your family are to be commended to taking such good care of a "member of your family". Just remember that Comet will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge when you get to Heaven and he will go through the Gates with you!

Paul, I'm sorry to hear about Comet. It really is amazing how big a role pets play in our lives. Give my reguards to Sue, and take care.

I'm very sorry for your loss. People underestimate the impact of losing a pet. It is substantial. I cried for a week when I had to put Dusty (my cat of 12 years) down. Once again very sorry.

Paul, I know what you're going through. Losing a pet of so many years is more difficult than many people can imagine. They really do become full fledged members of the family and their loss is keenly felt. Spook, Cleo, & Maggie (our cats) as well as Gloria & I send our heartfelt condolences to you & Sue.

Sorry for your loss, Paul & Sue frown

Pets have always been a part of our family and way of life. They quickly become an important member of your family and are very difficult to part with.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I understand how sad it can be, I lost my 20 year old cat, Kaysee, on January 4, 2000.

I thought I saw her around the house many times after that. The latest event happened just this week. Kaysee liked to play with balled up socks. If I left a drawer open even a tiny bit, she would pull the socks out and play with them.

Well the other day when my son and I arrived home, there was a balled up sock in the middle of the living room floor. We looked at each other and both said Kaysee!

Yes it sure must have been a sad day Paul. I know how hard it is to lose a "friend" you've had so long. Maybe he's up there meeting my old buddie Max.

This is just the toughest thing to do frown ...but after having to do it with our sweet Molly a springer spaniel a few years back... I know it is truly the most loving thing to do...it is my understanding that we will be meeting our dear pets again in the next world...sure hope that's true.

Sorry to hear about Comet. Betty and I remember seeing him when we visited your home a couple of years ago. It is like losing a member of your family. At least he is resting in peace now. Hal

My sympathies on the loss of your cat Comet. Sparkie is the resident cat here and a real love bug. All good cats go to heaven.

Thanks for nice comments and thoughts of support... It is really quiet now when I come home. For those who haven't been around Siamese cats, they like to talk to their humans and Comet was no different. He and I carried on many a great conversation over the years. He always gave good advice! Thanks again for the support it has helped a lot..

Paul, Boris and Spike both get on real talking jags. Just this morning Bo started up right after Son Bill went out for a bit and kept it up for around a half hour until he came back. Then Bill got the brush and called him over. After a nice brush he calmed right down. Now this was my Dad's cat who used to run and hide whenever anyone came to the house. Lately all he wants is attention.

I also have an "outdoor" cat who must have been dropped off. He/she/it is a beautiful cat who needs a good home before winter. (Thought I saw a 14 peeking through her fur???)

This stray looks just like our Squeeker. What do you mean a '14 peeking through the fur'?

I believe she is hinting that the cat has Paul's autoship number on it . . . . However, the cat looks pretty content right where it is now.

Sorry to read of your loss, Paul & Sue. 19 is pretty darn good for a cat. We have had 2 make it to 14. Smokey, Socks, Tree Kitty and Mama Cat (the outside "porch cat") also send their thanks for giving Comet a good home.

Dave

Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, Paul and Sue. I also know how tough it is to lose a pet. I had to put my dog "King" to sleep back in 1995. He was a Huskie/Collie mix and was 12 years old. He loved the cold weather with all that fur! I will never forget the time he was sleeping on the snow in the cold when the temps were below zero! He had a doghouse, but mostly slept outside of it! I still miss him today.

We are also sad to hear of your loss too, we also had to have a cat put to sleep a couple years ago who had also made it to the ripe old age of 19. Well Comet had 19 good years in a loving home, many cats aren't as fortunate.

Sorry to hear about Comet, Paul, but at the same time, he had a great home and a life full of love, I'm sure. We had 5 cats at one point and two dogs. The last of the 5, Willie ended up developing liver failure about 2 years ago at 17. The record holder for our bunch was Jeremy, a snow white cat my wife had had from his kittenhood who made it to 21! We now have a pair of Maine coons, Maggie and Mattie, who keep the two border collies and our Australian shepard in line!

Tim's right, all cats go to heaven!

Gary
