I put my George Cobb on display and took a better look at it. Something caught my eye and I'm wondering if anyone else noticed this too.

The numbers "564" and the words "US Coast Guard" appear to be some sort of paper tape. I didn't believe my eyes at first. I would have thought Harbour Lights would have painted the numbers and letters on, or at least used a decal that wouldn't show up like the paper tape.

I must say I'm a little disappointed in how the tape looks. I'm somewhat concerned that this tape may lift in the future spoiling the originality of this beautiful piece.

Can anyone tell me my eyes are deceiving me?

I noticed the paper tape too. I just chalked it up to a sign of the times of taking the easiest way out. I sure hope that whoever sticks them on has a steady hand.

I'm ashamed to admit that I never even noticed the tape until Bob called attention to it. I firmly believe that this little bit of expense control puts the sculpture into the same category as a model car or a plastic airplane crafted by an eight-year-old.

Had I known about it previously, I sincerely doubt that I would have purchsed the piece.

I just received my Tender in todays FED EX and man, WHAT A SHOCK"! It's the most detailed Anchor Bay to date. I can live with the decals because Harbour Lights put all the time and money in the important details. The only complaint I have is it is 10" long and the extra glass cases I have from the open edition Cheasapeakes are only 9" long. I will use one of the Chesapeakes bases and have a glass cover made up that fits the outside dimension of the base. All I can say is "WOW".

This is disgusting. Not only is the lettering and numbers cheap paper tape(that doesn't blend in too well) but mine does not even have the Coast Guard stripe & symbol!

Contact your dealer and have them either send it back or have them get another one with the Coast Guard "Racing Stipes" as we Coasties lovingly referred to them.

Did Harbour Lights "miss the boat" on this Anchor Bay boat? The George Cobb is a super piece with great detail! Why did they spoil it with the cheap looking tape? Now Ken receives one that is missing the traditional Coastie symbol and stripes.

Look at it this way, Ken. You may have a rare variation because someone was sleeping at the switch in quality control. I'm seriously concerned that the cost cutting use of inferior tape on this fabulous piece will lead to extremely slow sales and many returns from dissatisfied customers. This isn't what we expect from a company dedicated to detail and customer satisfaction.

I'm surprised there are only 5 of us a little dissatisfied with the inferior quality appearing tape on the George Cobb. Maybe Harbour Lights figures those aren't bad odds when cutting corners. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, boys and girls!

 Bob
