To keep the "Dinner with the Youngers" topic on topic, I'm starting a new thread to discuss the Bailey's Harbor Range Lights.

I just placed my order with the Gallery. I'm very excited. I had Lorie, too...with a quick google of the gallery's name, it looks like she is the owner's right hand woman.

I'm quite excited that I was able to get this piece. As I am a due-to-space-and-funds LLOM collector, I like the smaller lights. Bailey's Harbor is also a personal favorite. I like all those different range lights.

Does anyone have a photo of the piece? And it IS $30, right? I feel really cool that I will be an owner of a 1/600 HL! Gee, this feels good...I have to do this more often!!!!

At this point the only picture I know of is in the Dinner With The Younger's thread. The winner of the auction is shown holding the two Range Lights.

I'm sure Paul or someone else got a better picture and will provide it at a later time.

Kim walked around with the "only" set currently in existence with a flashlight held in her mouth so everyone could get a good look at them while they were being auctioned off.

Has HL ever produced a range light before? I never heard of one.

I believe that the 2002 Society gift piece was a range light (HL-537) Cape Hatteras Beacon Range Light;)

Jim - that Cape Hatteras 'Beacon' was the original lighthouse at the Cape in 1803, I believe. Not a true range light, just small like one.

Typically, front and rear range lights are lined up one-above-the-other as a ship enters a channel or port. So long as they are kept above one another, they are in a safe route to the destination.

Oh. Yeah. Forgot about that.. Funny, I don't seem to think about the St. Clair lights as range lights, yet they are. Actually, I don't know what I think of them as. :rolleyes: Channel lights. It took me until now to associate "channel" with "range".

The Three Sisters of Nauset were range lights when at their original location.

LL223 - Craighill Channel, MD is a Front Range Light In the upper Chesapeake Bay... Also, both Upper and Lower Craighill Channel Range Light Thumbnails were given to attendees at the Baltimore reunion in 2001.

I may be wrong, but aren't the Miraflores & Gatun Locks lights range lights? (mine are boxed up). If so, they would be the first ones made by HL.

According to the COA the Gatun Locks Lighthouse is officially named the Upper Southbound Range Light and the Miraflores Locks Lighthouse is officially named the Rear Northbound Balboa Reach.

Does anyone know when these are shipping to those of us that ordered them via phone from that Studio (I forgot the name)? Is it before or after the gathering?

I called the dealer that I ordered from (Audrey M. Office Gallery in Sturgeon Bay, WI 920-743-2259) Tuesday May 11th and asked them about delivery and they informed me that they have not even received the pieces as of then. They said when they receive them it will take 2-3 weeks to send them all out. I figured I would call Friday to see if they got them in.

I'd give the store a break and not call them until Monday. They are going to be very busy with Door County Walk activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Thanks. Do people usually refer to that as AMO Gallery? I remember ordering from someplace with initials. They might get delivered Monday, after the gathering. I'm betting on mid-June.

Yes Greg, AMO Gallery and Audrey M. Office Gallery are one and the same.

I received an unexpected call from them today, and the HLs are in. I was on a waiting list, so was happily surprised to find I am getting this piece after all!

Nice to hear that they are in. Now to look forward to hearing that they may be on their way.

Information for those that may still be trying to get one from A.M.O. Gallery, I spoke with Audrey this past weekend and their allotment of 50 is sold out. She was sorting out the shipping information this past weekend, but needless to say, being the biggest Harbour Lights dealer in northern, if not all of wisconsin they we're pretty busy during the lighthouse walk.

I just got mine today! They are GREAT!

I got number 460/500. They are the size of LLOM, and each is seperate. The Rear Range is more like a large LLOM, while the Front Range is actually seemingly smaller than most LLOM, due to true scale. This is like what I thought they should have done with Three Sisters...seperate, but combinable pieces.

I also noticed that there are two stickers on the box, and the rear range and front range stickers are on their respective box ends. There is no flag, but rather a sticker with the number handwritten. Another funny thing about the box - it is a regular HL box, with the same design. However, due to the shorter height, Portland Head looks a bit compressed...it's a little funny. Doesn't look right.

Overall, I think it is an amazing piece for the size and price (all this for $30!). I see more pieces in the future...stay tuned. But here, I think HL has done great justice to some of my favorite lighthouses.

Mine came in today also and I can't agree more with your description. They are a nice addition to any collection and they're limited. I got 458 so someone got the one between yours and mine. Wonder who?

OK, there were 500 made. Here's what I think happened.

1-10 went to Bill, as always
11-15 went to Kim
16-50 went to HL staff
51-200 were for dinner attendees
201-300 were for walk staff
301-400 are for AMO to sell on site
401-499 went to the phone orderers
500 went to Nancy, as she always gets the last one

Some of the customs here may be wrong, eg I'm not sure if HL gives out pieces to the staff. If I remember, there were only 50 or 100 for phone orders. I'm guessing that Kim kept the first five after Bill, but I'm not sure and may be wrong. Maybe Bill gave her one of his or something. I'm also guessing that there were some for sale during the walk. There were 500...they had to get rid of them somehow, especially in this case. There may have been more dinner people, too...basically, I think that the early ones went to HL and the dinner attendees, second dibs went to in-store, and phone orders got the end of the run. Anyone who can point out any errors, let me know.

MAybe they just didn't want to go name dropping or something. But I'm trying to figure out where all those pieces went.

Greg, the pieces went to collectors and Lighthouse Walk attendees who purchased them. I will tell you that HL did not keep any for in-house personal stashes.

OK. I'm not accustomed to the whole HL specailty distribution thing - I know Bill gets 1-10 and Nancy the last one, but I thought that the employees got them too. If so, I'd want to work there!

Mine arrived last week #468. I called the store back to ask about shipping charges and was told that they had just a few more availible as there alotment was increesed. So I ordered two. An extra for me and one for a new fish that I have on the line (a co-worker that I am turning onto Harbour Lights). The two arrived Sat. one being #229 and the other #184.

Talking about shipping...I got another bill from AMO today for 9.67 or so for shipping...they don't include it on the original bill that came in the box. Expensive for shipping! (I guess the whole world isn't amazon :rolleyes: )

I received the billing for shipment in the mail today, also $9.67. However, this is about average for what most of the shipping has been costing me for eBay wins, so I'm okay with it.

Less expensive than the cost of flying to WI to pick up the piece. Of course there would have been HUGE benefits in picking the piece up personally.

My shipping bill arrived last night. It was over $10, but then I ordered three of the sets.

Was up to Door County this weekend and paid my usual visit to the good folks at A.M.O. Gallery. They informed me that they will have a few more Bailey Harbor sets availabe shortly. Not sure how many, so if your interested, give them a call.

Also, the still have some artist proof lithos of the painting Audrey did that was auctioned off and won by Fred Kulhman at the Door County event. So if you couldn't win the real one, but still want a copy of a very nice painting, give them a call.
