I graciously received my Pottawatomie, WI light that I won the chance to own a Number 9 of, inspected it, and am currently confused on the "Special backstamp issue" that has been previously discussed here at the forums.

I was under the understanding that numbers 1 through 550, of the 1,500 Limited edition run, would have a special Pottawatomie Lighthouse Sesquicentennial backstamp.

As stated above, I graciously received a No. 9 but it has the regular bottom sticker. The box does not indicate any "special significance" either.

Anybody have any information regarding the "backstamp" on this wonderful piece?

I am not sure it was a back stamp. I thought it was a special sticker on the bottom. Now you have me thinking which but it was one or the other.

I don't think a backstamp can be put on the matting on the bottom of the full size piece. We put a special sticker on the bottom of the 100 Cedar Island LEs we sold for the 1st LI Lighthouse Challenge. I had the option of designing and making the stamp myself or have Harbour Lights do it. I did it myself which made it challenging to get it on the bottom of the first 50 presigned Bill Younger pieces. lol
We were able to get a backstamp on the Little Lights because they do not have the matting on the bottom of the pieces.

I talked to the good folks at AMO Gallery in Sturgeon Bay today. They sent this message:
Quote:
Hi Mike,
Just received word from Tony Constantino of HL that he's just now pulling numbers of Pottawatomie Light to ship to Bill and Harry for signing. (Then to be sent to us.)
Someone dropped the ball on the special sticker. None of them will have them.
If you have one coming from AMO, sit tight it will be on it's way soon!

Mike

Even though a special sticker sounds special. There has been five events that I can think of that gave out special stickers for lighthouses. Never heard anyone wanting one of the lighthosues with special stickers or even sell one. So not having a special sticker is probally not that big of a deal.

The latest for those that ordered from AMO Gallery:
Quote:
Hi Mike, The latest news is that because there was damaged to the first ones sent to CA for signing we opted to just have them sent here directly and hopefully they will arrange a future signing. This has been such a nightmare for us we'll be happy to just get them out intact!! A&D

I was also wondering about the backstamp. Recieved #54. Very nice piece and I'm happy with it as is.

Daniel..your comment

.... "So not having a special sticker is probably not that big of a deal."

Well, I'm thinking that this might be a big deal to those folks who have helped in the restoration, and celebration of this light's 150th Anniversary!

All I meant is that it would probably not add any value to the lighthouse. I have been a big supporter for special stickers since I received my first one at the Sapelo special event. I have sugested to Bill and stated on this forum for years that all collectors that go to regionals should have a special sticker on their lighthouse.

I feel that in your case and that all that have helped in the restoration should get a special sticker from HL. I think you should get a list of names of all that Helped and that are purchasing a Pottawatomie, WI. Send these names off to Tony and Ask for a special sticker.

This is so disappointing! This sticker was to have the special Sesquicentennial Logo on it for Pottawatomie and the Friends of Rock Island.
