I don't know where to put this post so I'll try here. If it gets moved to a different place...no problem.

I was with my son yesterday and we went in to the store "Tuesday Morning" looking to find him some cheap kitchen utensils. As I was walking by a glass counter, I looked in and saw 4 Harbour Lights.

Two of them were Barking Rocks being sold at $39.95. The other 2 were El Morro, PR (the Regional event piece for 2006) being sold for $24.95 and Admiralty Head, WA (the In-Store event piece for 2006) being sold for $29.95. El Morro was also signed by Bill Younger.

Has any one else seen HL's being sold in stores like this?

I never have but I will be looking in my Tuesday Morning store this week. Very interesting how they came about getting them unless a dealer went out of business and off loaded them.

Hmmmm. Thought Lighthouse Depot was the sole dealer handling Barking Rocks?? If that's the case, they wouldn't be dumping them, would they?

Lighthouse Depot was not the sole dealer for Barking Rocks. My local dealer here in CO carried it. This sounds like more of a store closing dump of merchandise.

I didn't purchase Barking Rocks. I think it was the first piece I passed on via my former auto ship. I wasn't interested in a fantasy light. It's not what I wanted to collect.

Sounds like what Lorie saw was a non-HL Dealer just selling something for a friend or whatever. I don't think you'll find any other kitchen gadget store offering the same.

Great find if your missing those pieces. Always good to check your local thrift shops. El Morro is retired, so I would definately have bought that one.

Tuesday Morning is a discount chain that purchases large quantities from wholesalers/retailers that are dumping product. The pieces have been seen at branches located in various states, indicating to me that a sizable quantity were sold to TM and distributed nationwide. I don't see a small dealer that's going out of business having a sufficient number of pieces to warrant TM's buyers making a deal for the lot.

Be interested to see if other TMs also have signed El Morro, PR pieces (Regional Event piece) and Admiralty Head, WA (In-Store Event piece).

Would have to be a pretty big gift shop with an equally big inventory to provide TM with the number of pieces it would need for its stores.

The damage done to the HL name by eBay was bad. Couple that with now finding HL pieces in a "dollar store chain" at bottom-feeder pricing really tarnishes its name.

!,850 Barking Rocks was produced. 350 went to UK to be part of the “Friends of David Winter Cottages”. 1500 was left for all the Harbour Light dealers.

It sounds like a store or a chain of stores when out of business and sold out for a song to the “Tuesday Morning” I don’t know if things have changed, but my dealer told me he bought the HL’s from Harbour Lights for %50 of retail. Then there was shipping. If we take %50 of $125 that puts the dealer purchase price at %62.50 (plus shipping) and if “Tuesday Morning “ is selling it for $39.95 somebody took a big loss.

Speaking of Strange places for Harbour Lights, Back in the Hay Day of Harbour Lights I have found HL dealers in Hospitals gift stores and Ace Hardwares. These were HL dealers and not thrift stores.

I saw a couple of GLOWs once a long time ago in a store in our mall that purports to be an antique/collectible place. Never found much there that I'd consider an antique or that I'd want to collect.
