If anybody is traveling South on the NJ Turnpike this Friday 6-23-06 stop in and say Hi! to Esther and I. We should be there between 9 AM and 3 PM.

We'll be at the Molly Pitcher Service Area which is located just south of Exit 8A and the merge of the two parts of the Turnpike. If you intend to stop there stay in the right lane as the roadways merge.

This is the 4th year that I've done the NJ Travel show representing the NLLHS. It's a fun day talking to many different people about NJ lighthouses, the NJ Lighthouse challenge and Lighthouses in general.

They also have one of the Regional Quarterfinals for the annual Nathan's Hot dog Eating Contest during the Travel show.

If you're in the area stop in and say hello. I'll have my new Wacko Badge on.

Nah, I can eat alot just not all at once.

That contest is usually won by a woman from Japan that weighs about 98 pounds. Most of the winners in Competitive Eating Contests are actually small thin people. Go figure.

I have a hard enough time thinking that this type of thing is considered a sport in some circles.


I'll probably have a Chili or Cheese dog for lunch, though. It'll be free for the exhibitors.

We should be there from about 9 AM until about 3 PM on Friday. Setup is at 9 AM and the show runs from 10-3.

We're using the turnpike, but will be passing that exit around 6 AM. Guess a rendezvous ain't gonna' happen this time either. . . .

I figured it was a long shot that anybody would be driving by during the right hours- I figured I'd put it out there as some might be going to Tidewater or someplace else.

I'm sure I'll get to talk to many people about Lighthouses- and Harbour Lights- tomorrow.

I'll metion it tomorrow at the NJLHS meeting but I'm not sure that I'll get the chance to get that much into HL collecting during the day today. I'm there to discuss the NJLHS & especially the 7th Annual Lighthouse Challenge. I'm not sure it would be approriate to take much time to speak about the ELL there.

I'll discuss it if anybody recognizes my Wacko Badge, though.

Unfortunately I did not see anybody I knew yesterday- except for some of the same people who do the show every year.

It's a fun day but it can be a bit stressful- it's not like a craft show or event that people choose to go to. It's done in the parking lot of a service area on the turnpike and the people are usually in a hurry to get in get their food, use the rest rooms and get back on the road.

It's fun to try and find just the right phrase that gets people to stop and chat for a moment. This actually is the biggest reason speaking about the ELL wouldn't have worked. I could do it easier at a show people specifically went to, though.

Unfortunately I don't have one of those to do until September.
