Just felt like saying that I received my first HL today. I purchased Cape Hatteras #401. Looks great and should be the first of many that I collect.

Hi Dave, ...You're off and running! Cape Hatteras has been reproduced in many different models by Harbour Lights. Each and every one of them is a true representation of the great work they do. What's next for your collection? Bob

What ever you don’t touch it. Bill Y. has been known to say that they use a special paint. And once you touch a Harbour Light you are addicted and will have to buy an other.

To late Daniel I have the fever already. To answer your question Bob I purchased about 8 others, most off of this site. The next one should be Alctraz. My favorite would be Ocracoke (imagine that). One day this shall be in my collection.

Hi David... yep, you're hooked! It's good to see another local collector on the forums. We have a few others here who are local to the Charlotte area. Happy collecting!

Way to go Dave. It does indeed sound like you are hooked. It will be interesting to see how many you have at the end of a year. I was at about 60. Well over that now. I've had to reduce a bit lately but not for long. Hope to hit 200 of the little buggers by the end of this year. Boy that fever can sure do a number on you!! Dale

David,
It isn't too late - you can still be saved from the doom of H-L collecting. Simply destroy the offending article - and refuse the upcoming shipment . Grind that Hatteras light into the sand - like the waves and weather would have had it not been moved. Burn the box - reformat your hard drive - forget us, all of us...
Yeah, I didn't think you'd listen to that... I didn't either. I started in early April with two - your Hatteras and W. Quoddy. I then went beserk... now have two hundred pieces - including Fresnel lenses and Anchor Bay boats. My CC melted long ago... I need clothes, the house needs maintenance, the car needs work... all ignored so that I may feed my habit! My wife smiles as she enters everything in her journal - mutters something about commitment, or so the little voices (From those little lighthouse keepers'...) keep telling me. Naw, what do they know?
Now - plan ahead. Where will you put all of those lighthouses - and their boxes? Don't forget, an updated 401r version of the Hatteras light exists - as does the #632 'Hatteras On The Move'. You could always refinance the house and go for an original Hatteras.
Seriously, welcome to a great hobby - and a great forum full of really nice folks. Enjoy your lighthouses!
John

John, Yes when you have the bug its hard to get rid of. You know what, I don't want to get rid of it either. It really is a nice hobby and some of the most fun is talking and meeting people like yourselves.
