just kidding!! Has everybody seen the gas crisis out here in Phoenix??? Gas Prices are getting crazy, some stations over $4.00 a gallon!!!!! All this because of a busted pipeline!!!!
Long lines at the pumps!

Gas prices have risen slightly in our area. The average price of regular (87 octane) is averaging 153.9 per gallon.

Gas at the marinas in my area jumped from 179.9 on Friday to 199.9 on Sunday. Twenty cents in two days is what I call a substantial hike. It cost me $300 to fill the boat on Sunday, and it wasn't empty!

If I had the boat out your way, Jim, it would have cost me $600 to fill up. Who says it's expensive to live in New England?

Well, as Jim Gullo notes above... you should be in Arizona, Bob. The price of automotive gas went up 3 times on Sunday alone at the station near me - from $1.75 to $1.95. By the end of the day, they were out of gas.

The story is a pipeline from Texas to AZ went down last week and, while it has been repaired, they are awaiting inspection of the repairs (or so the story goes.)

Lines are wrapped around the block at stations that have gas, others are closed down.

Prices generally are $1.95 for regular, but some gougers are charging $3.99 a gallon. They will be needing police protection, IMHO.

It always amazing how the value of that 10,000 gallons in the ground goes up so fast, but never goes down while it's still in THEIR tank.

I had to go out to get gas late last night and waited in line about 10 minutes. All 15 pumps at this station were running at the same time and for me, it was pumping about a gallon a minute -- pretty darn slow. It took 12 minutes to put 12 gallons in the tank.

What, no tank trucks in AZ? Is this a repeat of a gas shortage that happend in the early 80's?

The rapid rise in gas prices may be an attempt to slow down consumption. On the other hand, some station owners may look at it as a chance to make big bucks in a bad situation. Little guys get screwed, and the big guys make even more money.

They should ration the gas and only allow 10 gallons per visit. They should use the odd/even system where the last number of your registration plate determines if you can buy gas on an odd or even date of the month. No numbers, just letters on your plate? Then you buy on the even date. No plates? No gas for you!

Good idea...though you should be able to somehow get gas in an emergency, even if your numbers don't line up with the date...e.g., you run out. (I think that's really the only problem that could demand this situation.)

Either that, or different stations could have different schedules...but that might not work...

After the events of 9/11, a number of Indiana gas stations went into the price gouging mode. Before it was over, the Attorney General came into the picture and the greedy bums were penalized. It is a shame that there on people who thrive on the problems of others, who think only of ways to hose the public.

Our local stations tend to jump prices an average of 17-18 cents the middle of each week to cheat the people who don't fill up until their Friday payday. Capitalism at its very worst.

Maybe we can take up a gasoline collection for our Zonie friends. If every member would put a quart in the mail to John . . . .

It's refreshing to hear that gas stations in other parts of the country do "funny" things with their gas prices over time. I have always noticed that gas prices seem to rise mysteriously during the summer time...it wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with people going on summer vacation...would it ??? And, it goes up even more around Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day...

I also noticed some funny business with the gas prices when I was on vacation last week in Nags Head. Over 90% of the vacationers down there rent houses for a full week, so people either arrive/leave on a Saturday or a Sunday...so, not surprisingly, the gas prices always seem to be a few cents higher on Saturday and Sunday when EVERYONE is travelling in/out of the island.

(And, for the record: climbed Hatteras , tried to climbed Currituck...got to within 15 steps of the top before being forced to leave due to a lightening strike , but ran out of time for a visit to Bodie )

Dave, our Governor said on a radio program that AZ is one of 28 states that don't have anti-gouging laws (yet).

Waited in line 30 minutes today to pump 9 gallons at $2.05. (I was 'topping off' and 9 gallons was all I needed; I know you're not supposed to do this, but when you drive around town and see that every other station is CLOSED and the others have long lines, it makes you nervous that you will be able to buy gas 'tomorrow'.)

At least your gas at the marina is similar to the cost off the water. We keep our boat at Lake Powell where the marina gas is always $1.00 higher than on land. It cost us $523 to fill our boat 2 weekends ago.

We don't have a trailer so we have to fill up at the marina.

I'm ready for a smaller boat that doesn't need 240 gallons to fill up the gas tanks!

The HL Yacht has a big advantage over Bob's and Lorie's. It's oar powered.

(Of course it can't pull 4 water skiers and it's a long row to Block Island......)

Gas here in Globe (about 90 miles east of down town Phoenix) went from $1.65 a gal to $1.95 in 4 days. But no lines and no stations out of gas yet. For some in the east valley it would benefit them to drive out here. 2 stations here still have it under $1.80 as of this morning.

Paying $1.39 a gallon (low octane) here in southern Virginia.

Let me guess Brent that's the price at the "Red Birch" down there at 220 and 58? At least that's who used to have some of the cheapest gas in the Rideway/Martinsville area.

Still the highest gas prices in the 50 states -- $2.29 this morning for Regular Unleaded.

On this website you can compare your area to others and hopefully see where the "cheap" gas is. Now remember, that's a relative term

I went away for Thursday-Sunday and gas went up 15-20 cents a gallon in my area during those four days. The lowest price for 87 octane is $1.72 a gallon. They blame it on the blackout and the broken pipe in Arizona. Yah right, just phony excuses to get the price up for the heavily travelled Labor Day weekend.

Cool website, JJ!! I paid $2.00 a gallon yesterday! I was lucky, I had filled up a week ago Thursday and coasted through the whole crisis!!
