I ran across a Split Rock (95) with no Run Number on the piece. The bottom said Stamped series and the GLOW No. 412. Anybody out there know anything about this?? Any Advice??

First off - I LOVE the 'NvrEnufHL'!

I saw a Split Rock GLOW also without a number at a store along the OR coast a couple of years ago and kicked myself later for not buying it.

Unless it has some other marking on the bottom such as "Artists Proof" or "Paint Sample" it's likely just a piece that slipped through without being numbered. Rare, but it happens.

What does the box say?

There have been a number of questions on items that were originally issued as GLOWs and then changed to limited editions.

I take that as a strong suggestion to but this piece. While I have you here, do you think Tan Beavertails are worth a second purchase

You want to speculate on one? It's up to you. I've been there and done that. When too many collectors own 'extras', the value of all those extras rises much slower than when only a few are available for re-sale, prices rise faster.

Catch 22. Solution? Talk everyone else out of buying extras, but grab a few for yourself.

FWIW I have the Stamp Set (it was my first HL purchase - why start with just one?) and all five pieces are numbered A3048. The chart in the link above indicates only known to go as high as A2752 for Spectacle Reef & Thirty Mile Point.

Obviously, Tim, John has UV lamps in his closet.


On the Split Rock, I noticed an A-series in my local retailer's a few weeks back. The numbers were *very* weak -- barely legible. I suspect that they had faded in the light (not anywhere near a window,though) or maybe had been absorbed somehow by the casting. Maybe it's characteristic of those first SR's?

John, check your closet again. If your Beavertails can tan, maybe your Split Rocks fade, too!
