Recent Problems on Collector Forums

As regulars know, we've had a couple of problems since August 20.

The web hosting company upgraded the equipment on which our CF resides. The transition took place on August 20.

We probably should have shut down the forums for 24 hours while this transition took place -- which included using a new set of nameservers which needed to be propagated throughout the internet.

The problem of the missing images has now been resolved. I hope that the few missing threads may have also been resolved. (If not, please repost.)

And I think we're all experiencing faster loading of the pages than when the transition first happened.

We've had the CF hosted by the same company since about 1999 and I believe this is the first issue that wasn't resolved within a couple of hours. Great service considering the 10 year relationship.

What I noticed today was that my post numbered 1000 and last night it was up to 1006 or something near that. This is the second time it has occurred so if that continues maybe we should just forget about the numbers.

Figured something was up. I've been trying to get on the CF all morning.

Edited in: I just noticed I'm back to 4800 posts, I think I was at 4825 at some point.

I guess I'll have to figure out what to say again!

With the loss and subsequent recovery of lost posts, the incrementing post count probably was also lost. Just look at it as the opportunity to return to a younger day . . . .

It certainly APPEARS like everything is back to normal with fast loading(maybe even faster then before) and all the old posts appear to be back also.

Let's cross our fingers and hope that all remains steady.

I spoke too soon. At least on my end, we were down about 10:30 PM last night. How long were we down?
