Yes, I tossed out the Statue of Liberty - because it came up at one of BY's seminars in Edison NJ. There seems strong support for the piece and I got the felling BY was in favor. However I'm the one who said (to myself) that would be a great Y2K piece. At Rosemont I ran that up the flagpole and it didn't get saluted. Instead HL seems to be looking for a SERIES or SET to commemorate the Y2K. What could this be? (And these are just my ideas, undiscussed with HL)
1. Variations over time - pick a spot that has 'always' had a lighthouse there, but the lighthouse has been redone a number of times, and show it as it was over time (like Cape Henry).
2. Lighthouses through time - pick architecturally representative lighthouses as they were designed and built in America (the World?) in the 1600s(?), 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s. (2000s - a model of a communications/GPS satellite?)
3. I still like the Statue of Liberty - if not Y2K, then Y2K+1 (The 10th Anniversary of Harbour Lights).
(And if they want a series of three, show it as it was built, as it looks today, and as it looked in Planet of the Apes.)
Another idea if a set - have the bases designed to 'interlock' or nestle against one another so you could display them in a row or separately (and avoid the curio hogging dimensions of Navesink.)
How about the Y2k piece being limited to production (orders) in the year 2000?
Just a few thoughts to stimulate a discussion. Tim? Anyone else?
