A Fire Island Sunday - 01/09/01 04:29 AM

The following images are some that I took on Long Island this past Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, while attending the Inaugural Membership Meeting USLHS Long Island Chapter.

Ron,
I love that picture with the deer!!!!
But don't feed them. Car + People = Food and we know what happens to Car + Deer.

Great pictures, Ron! Are you scanning prints or using a digital camera?

Thank you for the compliment CarolZ.

I wouldn't think of feeding the deer but I couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures.

I use a digital camera Bob, Olympus D620L. It's an older model compaired to today's and takes 1.3 megapixel pics.

I'll tell you a cute story that goes with the deer picture someday.

Hi Ron, ... Lorna bought me an Olympus D 460 for Christmas. It seems like a great camera except I haven't been able to download any pictures yet because my computer is missing the proper port. My camera guy, also my home theatre guy, is coming over tomorrow night to remedy the situation. He called me last night to ask how the new camera was working and I told him my problem. He says he can take care of that in a couple of minutes. I guess we'll wait and see.

Bob M,

Guess what I received for my B'Day end of November? Olympus 460Z! My husband purchased it for me to make it easier to load my photos on E-bay.

Guess what else? We couldn't download any photos to the computer! Kept getting transfer error message. We waited for oldest son to arrive home for X-mas break a few weeks later. Seems we have two serial ports & even though my husband enabled the second one that was disabled it still didn't work. Our son had to switch ports and the stuff on them. It took him a few minutes as it wasn't one simple switch. Anyway now I can download.

Still playing with the photo softwear and learning the cameras buttons. When I went to Fire Island on Sunday I took my trusty Olympus OM-2N. Maybe someday I'll feel as comfortable with the digital camera but right now I trust my photos to the 35mm.

Certainly Ron's pictures from Sunday are an incentive to give the digital a try at the real photos (as opposed to E-bay shots). Plus the auto focus is a nice feature when my old eyes have trouble focusing in lower light situations.

Good luck!
