Fall Gathering at OMC on September 29th ...

It’s time again for the Fall Cleanup/Work Day at Michigan City Lighthouse this Saturday, September 29th .

We will gather for breakfast on Saturday morning and then we will head over to the lighthouse to start on our projects...
Location for breakfast Dino's Family Restaurant (on US 20 across from Marquette Mall) is at 7:00 a.m. Central time..

There will be some door prizes, lunch will probably be pizza.. All are welcome..

Wish we could be there Saturday, but the drive is a little long. We will be with you guys in spirit. Looks like good weather for Saturday. Will you know how to act with sunny skies and warm temps? Looking forward to the pictures.

Better late than never... I had time yesterday in our motel room in Macinaw City to work up the Fall Cleanup images since it was raining and about 40 mile per hour winds.


It start with meeting for breakfast and we had a short meeting which included news about the OMC lighthouse Museum..


A lot of good things are happening at the lighthouse not the least of which is a new air conditioning and heating system.. They are also fixing the leaking that has been going on in the basement..


Mary and some of the gals started the day with some serious dusting in the house.. Dust from the construction was every where..


Jeff and Doyne start the day by removing a board that had warped a little under the weight on the platform..


Harold and larry trim off some unwanted branches off of one of the giant trees on the grounds..


Doyne starts fitting the replacement board in place on the platform..


Shelly starts weeding on a section that is lovingly reffered to as Shelly's Corner..


Kay working hard on the sidewalk edging..

Jeff is marking the position s of the supports on the new board.. These guys are good!


The Berry's teamed up on some sidewalk edging..


Gary joins Doyne and Jeff fitting the board in place.. A lot mind over matter going on...

This should seal the boards and help make the platform not only look nice but stand up against the weather at the lighthouse..

One piece of news about the lighthouse that Jackie gave us, is that the Parks Dept. is now going to help maintain the grounds inbetween our Spring and Fall work days.. There has been a lot more people jumping on the band wagon since our Club adopted the lighthouse to do some restoration and upkeep work..


Harold and Shelly finish up the staining of the platform, it was almost totally dry when they finished.


We left this new/old item which will be part of a special display for Dave since he missed the work day.. Lifting it should get that new hip in shape.. More on the wheels next work day..


Late afternoon the club enjoyed some really good pizza together..


Margarett Ann and Kat are holding up the front wall of the lighthouse after a full day of work at the lighthouse with a bunch of friends..
