First Meeting of the So. Calif. Harbour Lights Collectors Club - 03/06/99 07:42 AM

Greetings Lighthouse Lovers,

Our first club kick-off meeting was held February 27th at the home of Dave Dutcher in Lake Forest Ca. There were 32 in attendance, some avid lighthouse enthusiasts as well as several new collectors. Guests were signed in at the door and given small gift bags, then assigned a mission to find out interesting facts about all present, which all perused with great fervor. Food and refreshments were served, throughout the meeting, while old friends chatted and lots of new friendships were made.

After some brief announcements made about the club, the guest speaker Harbour Lights Bill Younger was introduced. As always, he was witty and very educational. He spoke of Georgias' Tybee Island Light restoration and lighting that would occur the following day, as well as some interesting Harbour Lights business facts and humorous stories.

Following Bills' presentation, he was made an honorary club member and presented a Southern California Harbour Lights Collectors Club shirt signed by all present at the meeting, and a hand painted lighthouse plate done by a local artist.

Immediately following the presentations, Bill drew names for door prizes donated by Harbour Lights. Congratulations went to Pat Korieth who won Nauset and Kim LeBrun who won St. Simons. Our fund raising raffle immediately followed and congratulations went to Chuck Dutcher, Tom Hoyt and Kim LeBrun for winning HL LE Pieces. Immediately following the meeting was adjourned.

We would like to thank Harbour Lights, Family Affair and Heirlooms of Tomorrow for their generous donations to help get us started.

Our next meeting, which will be a potluck, is scheduled for early May and will be our formation meeting.
