Collectors Society Cloisonne Pins - 07/16/06 02:02 AM

What year were the pins introduced?

I'm looking for all that preceded 1999. Anybody willing to part with theirs?

Daniel, how much on average would you say the pins are worth? (Or range)

The Collectors Society Pins doesn’t carry a very big demand.
They are extremely common since there are as many of them as there are the society gifts.
In 1998 as many as 24,222 were given out and In 1999, 27,648 were given out.
But if you are like me you keep your pins in with your society gift box, and would like a separate one to display.
Because of that collectors are looking for them and thus creating a small demand for them.
I would say value from $1 to $3.50
The 1995 of course would be the hardest one to find with a lot less made. My guess would be around 8,000
Maybe John has it written down somewhere.
Still a lot of pins.

Now the buttons are another story.
Some of them are very rare and one in particular has gone as high as $240 on ebay.

A guy was trying to sell me some at $5.00 a piece (he knew I loved lighthouses) and I thought that seemed high, so I passed on them.

You passed on the Society pins or the buttons?

Just won an eBay auction that gets me two 1995s, a 1996, and a 1998 for $5.63 + $10 S&H.

Anybody want to swap a 1997 for one of my 1995s?

Too bad you don't need a 1998. That is the only one I have two of. I do need a 1995 though.

Yeah, Sandy. I have an extra 2000 and wouldn't mind a 1995.

Thanks, Paul! Since I did not join until 1998, I have nothing prior to that year.

Rod Watson and I are swapping one of his 1997s for one of my 1995s, so think I'm all set and will have a complete set with this transaction.

I guess I should have said I will post a list of my extras when I find where I carefully stored them away so I would know where I stored them.. They aren't with my extra buttons which I didn't store away safely, but are sitting out in a box in plain view.. I'll keep looking!

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one that does that!

I'm in the club, too. Safely stored away, never to be found again. . . .

Anybody have to back to the room where you had the thought to refresh your memory? Waste an awful lot of time doing that or standing perplexed in the room where whatever I went to get is located, diligently trying to remember why I came to that room.

Re: Collectors Society Cloisonne Pins - 07/18/06 05:36 PM

Now I haven't tried that technique, Sandy.

But you'll hear this coming from my mouth all the time:

"I spend half my time looking for things I had in my hand 30 minutes ago!"

Re: Collectors Society Cloisonne Pins - 07/18/06 06:57 PM

Sandy, I do it all the time - I shocked myself recently when I backtracked and it actually worked! And talk about having it in your hand one second and not finding it the next - and I haven't even moved! That's when I think I've really lost it!! frown

I just park mine next to the displayed lights so if I can't find the lighthouses I'm in big trouble. wink

I have mine displayed shadow box style. I missed them when Harbour Lights decided not to make them any more but I understood why.
