Cape Hatteras MOLD 2 - 11/08/07 11:15 PM

I recently purchased a ch2 from a secondary market, Does the flocking used supposed to completely cover the bottom or is the flocking supposed to be a bit smaller not completely covering the bottom. Mine completely covers the bottom and has a lightning rod on top.
Thanks rob

MICHMARINESURVEYOR,

What is the Flag Number?

Canadian = felt doesn't come to the edge. (Flag numbering roughly #266 through #1923)

Malaysian = felt comes all the way to the edge. (The rest of the production run after #1923).

HL 102's all had lightning rods.

It's funny but I can always tell my Canadians from my Malaysians when I'm cleaning my curios. The Malaysians go back on the glass shelves without a sound. The Canadians always sound like you are banging them against the glass. Trust me, I put all my HL's back very carefully.

What kind of "noise" do the ones made in CHINA make?

Ooops! I forgot about China, or should I say I'm trying to forget about China. They poisoned many American's pets. They have almost poisoned many children in this country with their lead paint toys. Lord knows how much crap we've ingested that some of the ingredients came from China.

To be fair, I still like Chinese food. Chris, in answer to your question, the Chinese versions sound the same as the Malaysians. Only the Canadian versions make the different sound. I don't own any California pieces to test.

Bob, I'm just goofing.... I love Harbour Lights not matter where they are made eventhough I do have some strong personal opinions about items made in CHINA which I won't mention here!

I didn't know about the sound differances, I will have to try this out some time. Perhaps it has to do with a different kind of felt used on the Canadians and its contact with glass.

Where's those guys from MYTH BUSTERS?

Nothing to do with the felt, it's the fact the hard part of the replica hits the surface before the felt area. It's kind of a "tink" noise instead of a "thunk" noise, if you know what I mean. lol!
