I am posting this for a friend who belongs to the Old Mission Historical Society, Michigan.
Old Mission Point Lighthouse-Open for Tours-June 27, 2004
As part of the statewide 18th Annual Log Cabin Day on Sunday, June 27, 2004, the Old Mission Historical Society is opening up the log cabin to visitors, and is hosting other events as well.
On this day, the 1858 Hessler Log Cabin, located at Peninsula Township's Lighthouse Park, will be open to visitors, and the adjacent Old Mission Lighthouse will be available for tours as well. There will also be a variety of traditional craft demonstrations on the lighthouse grounds.
A self-paced walking tour of the village of Old Mission is also scheduled. Carriage rides will be available in the village.
There is no charge for visiting the log cabin, viewing the craft demonstrations, or for the walking tour. There is a $5.00 admission fee to visit inside the lighthouse, and this fee also covers the cost of a carriage ride.
This is a one-day annual event. The log cabin and lighthouse are ordinarily not open to the public. Hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, but the carriage rides will be available only from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
