Lake Champlain Lighthouse news - 09/02/03 04:38 PM

I received a phone call a few nights ago from Rob Clark, one of the owners of the Windmill Point and Isle La Motte lighthouses. He called to inform me that the new pier lighthouses at Burlington, VT are due to be lit on September 12th. There had previously been two lighthouses at Burlington but they have been gone for some time. The original plans were located and exact replicas were built over the summer.

Rob also reported that the Cumberland Head, NY lighthouse was also re-lit in mid March of this year, as was the Split Rock, NY lighthouse. Both are privately owned and Rob stated that the owners of these two lighthouses didn't want any fanfare associated with the re-lightings.

Thanks for the update. The breakwater lights are one of our stops this weekend for NELL's 5th Anniversary Fall meeting.
