Help PLEASE ...
Does anyone know if the dome on top of the customs house in the Harbour of Montevideo, Uruguay actually houses a light - or ever did?
We have been offered a stamp with this building and only want to buy it, if there really is a light on it.
You can see the building on this immage

It would appear that the Customs House Cathedral did at one time have a light.

Margret,

I just got that stamp and wondered why it was considered a lighthouse stamp. It said "South Tower" so I assumed it was a lighthouse at one time. Glad you asked the question.

Judy, are you sure your stamp is not of the Cathedral in Montevideo? That had a light in one of the towers.

The one I am talking about is the Customs House and there is only one tower. And it looks like that's how its always been!

I am looking for the information about this - the Customs House

Margret,

You are correct. The stamp I have is the Cathedral in Montevideo and not the Customs House. I am amazed that the Cathedral had a light in one of the towers. That is quite unique. Sorry for the mix up. I don't know anything about the Customs House but if I come across anything I'll let you know. Your photos are wonderful.
