OK,Roland, you going to lead the way in putting together a bid for the light? Let's see, if everyone kicked in a few bucks we could get the place repaired and take turns enjoying it during the summer.
It's about a 45 minute drive away from me and is perhaps my favorite lighthouse, (along with Chatham and Owl's Head). So yeah, I'm game!!!

Too bad the Coast Guard let it get so bad, while it was lived in no less. Maybe the plan all along was to let it go and house the next sector commander somewhere else.

No date on the page you found, Sue, and it mentions 2013 tours. Roland's article is dated in January so it appears to be current. Wonder if they started construction work and decided it wasn't worth it or if they did just did enough construction work to stabilize the house.
I think the money for the repairs never was appropriated. It got to the point where the cost was too much so it was decided to divest the lighthouse rather than wait for money which may never come to repair it.
