How to classify US and Canadian LHs

Hello everybody and greeting from cold Russia :) !
As you may be heard in my previous posts, recently (last month) i've made internet site www.lightphotos.net
It's intended for people who also as me collecting LH photos, so if you have some - feel free to register and upload your photos (or photos you have permissions to use) there, i will be really appreciate. Many of lights are being abandoned or destroyed, so the task of the site is to try to keep them in photos if we can't keep them IRL. At the moment we're collected about 200-300 LHs. Not so much, but this is just a start :)
The reason i made this post is to consult a bit with another amateurs, how is better to classify LH locations. For small countries everything is clear. There are albums on the site, each album represents one country. But if number of lights is big (like for US or Canada) - it will be better to divide one big album to several small ones. So the question is how to do this better. I see 2 options so far:
1. Simply take official division (US - states, Canada - provinces and territories). This already made for UK but for US will give really many albums as result.
2. Make own division like - North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, Great lakes etc - so it will be not official, but number of albums will be much less.
So what do you think? Many thanks for your replies.
And if you want to make any other suggestion - you very welcome, feel free to tell me what do you think.

Hello Dmitry and welcome. How many lighthouses would you want for each album? If you had a North Atlantic and South for the US, where would the dividing line be? Might work to lump states with smaller numbers of lighthouses together. Some states you might want to break into several albums, like Michigan. Looks like an ambitious project!

Dmitry, Thank you for such an interesting site with many beautiful pictures of lights maybe most of us have never seen. Probably the better suggestion for the classification of the U.S. and Canadian lights, is #2, by general area. It will keep the number of albums down, as you have suggested. I am a fan no matter how you do it! Thank you again.

Technically there is no limit. It's just a subject of comfort search.

I totally understood from the beginning that this should not be a project of one person. Otherwise it will be stuck soon as many other LH galleries. That's why i was focused to inviting another people to register and upload their collections. So i hope i'll find colleagues who will help me :)

I also incline to this solution. It has advantage that number of albums will not raise so high. But in this case can you help me to define this division? I.e. my suggestion is:
North Atlantic Coast
South Atlantic Coast (where could be the border? may be where is some traditional "division" between south and north?)
Alaska
Gulf of Mexico
North Pacific Coast
South Pacific Coast (same question as for Atlantic coast)
Great Lakes
Other inland territories (?)
Anything else?
And same for Canada:
Pacific coast
Atlantic coast
Hudson bay
Arctic ocean
Great Lakes
Other inland territories (?)

PS Of course files could be easily moved from album to album. But if their number will be increased, this could be long task.

One more caution - some of our lighthouses have the same names. We tell them apart by the state. You will need to put the state abbreviation in some lighthouse names. For example Fort Point CA for California and Fort Point ME for Maine.

I would suggest that the US Pacific Coast doesn't need to be split between north and south. There aren't nearly as many lights on the west (Pacific) coast as there are on the east coast.

I further suggest that lights in the states of Virginia and south would be in the South Atlantic coast section, and Maryland and north would be the north Atlantic section.

That's really great list, thanks very much! I've made this classification, not all albums are available to preview (cause some of them unfortunately empty), but generally this looks nice. Many thanks to everybody!
But i'm very sure this will be not the last question :)

My own personal preference after many years of sorting is States for US, Provinces for Canada, and Countries stand on their own, although I did id my Ireland LHS by County. Lot easier to find my photos this way for me. Works just fine for LighthouseFriends.com too. I do other breakdowns within states like in NY LI of course, HR Hudson river, LC Lake Champlain, and other Great Lakes with their initails. Allows me to recall where they are and where I was easily. 500+ Lighthhouses & lightships.

I was thinking yesterday and looks like i found intermediate solution, which will keep reasonable number of albums but allow to have states classification.
So the idea is to keep albums structure as described above, but in the album header make links to particular state (using image tags), so if you click on the state in the album description - you'll get only LHs of the state. Tried - looks like this working:
