I thought I would share: This lighthouse is being built on Dinish Island in Castletownbere.

The Castletownbere directional light was established in 1965. That's the old tower painted white just behind the new tower. THE CIL webpage says the new tower was put into service on 11/17/2010.

Laura when I first looked at your picture I made the assumption that construction was just beginning and the tower would be taller. What a surprise when I clicked on the link Eric provided.
