USCG Birthday 2020

Today is the USCG's 230th birthday. As one would expect, the CG actually began life as the Revenue Marinea sea going tax collector. In 1894 it became the Revenue Cutter Service until it was merged with the Life Saving Service in 1915 to become the USCG. In 1939 the Lighthouse Service was merged into the operation and that is why many of us are familiar with the CG in their role caring for lighthouses.

Dave beat me to the punch this year as I was at Doctor's appointments and grocery shopping and totally forgot to post. Old age is slowly creeping up on me and my mind. I did fly the Coast Guard Flag for the neighborhood to see and will see how many comments I get. Thanks Dave for remembering and posting.
