Mackinaw-Laying Out Tracks So Ships Can Move - 03/09/08 04:18 PM

As many of you know, I follow news of the USCGC Mackinaw because my friend John serves as the captain of the ship.

The Mackinaw is equipped to perform multi tasks...heavy icebreaking, servicing buoys, search and rescue, law enforcement, and can deploy an oil skimming system to respond to oil spills.

This begins the icebreaking season, with the Soo Locks reopening March 25th.
