Mackinaw Headed Back to Homeport - Repairs Made & Dent Removed - 10/19/06 11:35 PM

USCGC Mackinaw is expected back into homeport of Cheboygan by the end of this week. Warranty repairs took longer than expected putting the ship a week behind schedule. The famous DENT is GONE and the ship now sports a much louder ceremonial ship's horn.

Thanks for the update, Judy. Didn't have time to make it up to Sturgeon Bay(although I really kept pushing the issue...to no avail!) so, we are heading to Michigan on Sunday. Hopefully I will get to see it there!

She's back in Cheboygan! Got to see her and took pictures. I asked a Coastie that came off the ship if it was alright to take photos fr smile om their parking lot. He said the Captain was busy as they were doing drills. So, I'm assuming that I might have gotten a tour if it weren't for the drills.

Here is a photo that I took of the ship as they were doing their drills.

You can't see the Coasties that were on deck, but you can see the Captain in the pilothouse giving orders.
