What Anchor Bay Boats do you own?

What Anchor Bay Boats do you own? - 01/19/03 11:08 PM

Below you will find a list of each Anchor Bay Boat that has been offered by Harbour Lights. Listed are AB 101 through AB 114. There is no boxes for open edition versus limited edition.

I am curious to see how many Anchor Bay collectors we have and what boats they own. The results of this poll will be used in the Anchor Bay thread at a later date.

Please check a box next to each AB you own. If you don't own any Anchor Bay Boats, just check the last box "I don't own any AB's".

Six users have voted so far a/o 1-20-03 @ 0830 hours. It's really easy to do. Read the question, then click the boxes for each Anchor Bay Boat you own.

Don't own any? Click the last box.

Another 10 users have voted in the last couple of days. It looks like we have a few Anchor Bay owners in the crowd.

I'm surprised the Purse Seiner, Tori Dawn, isn't more popular. It's actually my favorite of the fictional boats produced by AB.

Take a look at the results so far to see what I mean.

Another interesting stat would be how many people own.

I'm a little confused by your reply, Larry. Could you clarify what you are meaning to say?...Thanks!

Not only WHAT AB's do people own, but HOW MANY AB's TOTAL, do they own.

For example, I only own one AB, that being the Chesapeake, because it is my local lightship. (Although I could have my arm twisted to buy more lightships at the right price.)

You, Rich and Paul and Sean, probably own many more than that.

So I only checked one box, and some people may check them all. I'm pretty sure that the Infopop software isn't smart enough to break it dowm, but it would be interesting. I imagine it's more of a subject for a full discussion thread...how many, which ones and why.

The polling software is pretty simple. But we could have asked two questions. #1 how many do you own with numbers from 1-x (x=number of ABs made so far) and then which ones.

But with 22 votes and 5 who own none then 17 voters own at least one. 15 own a Chesapeake.

I do not own any AB's to date. But there are several that I would like to own and someday will. smile

since visiting Baltimore this summer and touring the Chesapeake, I am now interested in the boats, especially the light boats.

I usually collect only those lighthouses I've been to/seen but I include lightships in that mix, it's just a matter of what's it anchored to. I've been to several - Chesapeake, Swiftsure, Nantucket, Columbia. I'd buy the current Columbia Lightship but not the current Columbia Anchor Bay since they're two different boats. I figure the duty on a lightship was probably worst than a house. Seldom was a house run into by another ship.

a thought I had when reading this thread and in talking with retailers in malls recently is that a manufacturer has to watch that they don't overextend their market with product. By this I mean that Harbour Lights has to be careful with how many lighthouses it issues each year so that the avid collector has a chance to attain each piece and the other collectors can still buy a piece that attracts their attention. A second thought is that a manufacturer doesn't go into so many different lines that they can't do justice to each one. HL has balloons, boats, lighthouses; and the need is to strike a balance in producing product for each line that will attract a maximum of return. I collect mostly the lighthouses, but I watch the boats and balloons to see if there is something that is interesting to me. However, I also have a limited amount of capital and need to watch how many pieces of any kind I purchase. I have to prioritize my purchases. That's why I am interested in the Chesepeake but have not yet bought one.
