Michigan City Lighthouse 10-30-12 - 10/31/12 03:11 AM

I went out to Michigan City lighthouse this morning (10-30-12) to get some pictures from the very high winds caused by hurricane Sandy, the winds were blowing pretty much straight south down the lake. They had been calling for waves as high as 22' high, these waves aren't anywhere near that tall, but the wind was about a sustained 40mph+

Also I took some video (a minute 43 seconds and uploaded it to youtube here's a link to that, you may want to turn your volume down due to the wind in the mic

Can't believe no surfers . . .

Bet if you had been able to go around the corner to Saint Joe that the south winds would have been breaking over the lights!

Thanks for sharing. Now we need to get you to a work day . . .

There are some great surfing videos on youtube taken at Hatteras on the waves churned by Sandy. Check out the one named Pump House. Found the links when I went to view Mark's video - which I also enjoyed.

from the local newspaper, Waves reached 21.7 feet on Lake Michigan on Tuesday and the National Weather Service reported that wind speeds Tuesday morning on the water near Michigan City reached 69 mph

I can believe it, It was almost impossible just to plant your feet and stand in the same place without the wind relocating you
