Re: Cast your vote - 03/02/02 06:26 AM

I'm not sure which one is your's, but so far #12 is in the lead with 60% of the votes.

Of course this means it has 3 out of the 5 votes cast.

Make that 12 of 16.

I've seen that picture before in the gallery, Sean, and have always liked it.

Good luck, and right now, it looks like congratulations will probably be in order.

Thanks everyone, keep them coming I will need as many votes as possible.

Re: Cast your vote - 03/02/02 07:09 PM

Sean, What do you win if you.... win? And how are we all going to share it?

ok, I'll help too.

Update: in picture #5 it appears there is a lighthouse way way in the background, after closer review I think it's St. Joe, MI. because it's 2 lighthouses on a long straight pier and Ernie is holding and 19 pound king Salmon according to the name.

Sean IS NOT #5, so don't vote for #5

Nice picture Sean. You must have taken it last year at the Navy Pier show. You are in the lead.

Don'tcha feel kind of sorry for the others? (How often can we vote?
Posted By: SThompson

Re: Cast your vote - 03/03/02 06:56 AM

Don't feel sorry, today was only the second day of voting, the others will probably catch up by the end of the month. The voting runs for 30 days and then the next contest begins. Mark there is no big prize, this is just for some fun and to see how the photo fares.

Thanks All...........

It's clear Sean has 82% more friends than anybody else!

If you have a dial-up connection, you can vote each time you dial-up. If you have a broadband connection, you'll only be able to vote once. (I think.)

Re: Cast your vote - 03/03/02 07:27 PM

John,

I just tested it out.

I have a cable modem and when I voted it came back- "You already Voted."

We wouldn't want to stack the deck so to speak.

It depends on how they know you voted. One way is to place a cookie on your machine. In that case, it wouldn't matter which type of connection you have. If they log your IP address, then a dial up connection creates a new IP address each time you sign on while a broadband connection has a static IP.

I just tried again and got the "already voted" message also.

Re: Cast your vote - 03/04/02 10:15 PM

I just voted and after careful examination I had to go with #12. It is orders of magnitude above the rest. However, I feel that we must all respect the process of the contest and not sink to the level of ballot stuffing to early. Remember the Lighthouser's Code of Honor, which says "We will not Stuff any Ballot Box before it's time." Proper Ballot stuffing can only be done 5 minutes before the deadline! Thus preventing the competition from catching up with their own ballot stuffing.

Re: Cast your vote - 03/05/02 06:14 PM

Thanks All! I need to get out and take some new shots. I haven't really gotten any new lighthouse material since the reunion. I have a trip scheduled to the Georgetown and Cape Romain lighthouses on March 14th and then I will probably head South towards Brunswick on the 15th enroute St. Augustine for the lighthouse festival. Last year I tried this and had bad weather. Fingers crossed it will hold out and give me some nice blue skys with puffy clouds.

As John suspected, voting is controlled by a cookie (towboatus.net). If the cookie is removed, the survey lets you vote again. (I of course, did this for research purposes only).

Re: Cast your vote - 03/06/02 12:05 AM

Great shot Sean! I placed my vote. Only one, however. You are in the lead by such a huge margin right now, that I'm not sure if the ballot box stuffing is needed at this point. However, if it is, I'm glad we have our panel of "researchers" who showed us how to get around the system. Good luck!

Re: Cast your vote - 03/06/02 08:55 PM

I don't think any ballot stuffing will be needed, ehtics aside.

The pictures to choose from are all nice, but Sean's stands out from the crowd on it's own merits.

I would have voted for it under any circumstances, but it's nicer to help a fellow Forumite at the same time.

Re: Cast your vote - 03/07/02 12:08 AM

Well I was doing ok, one photo got 106 votes alone today, I need some help from my forum friends, obviously something unusual happening there since there were 0 votes up until today for that photograph. Forum, take it personal!!!

Re: Cast your vote - 03/07/02 12:19 AM

I seem to stand corrected.

I can see a number of votes for #11 and #2, but not #5.

Vote early, vote often. Which is appropriate since it is a picture from chicago.

Re: Cast your vote - 03/08/02 02:24 AM

Somebody was stuffing votes. The board administrator must have gone in and corrected all the votes. Please just vote once, If you haven't voted yet by all means give me some help.
Posted By: shiulong

Re: Cast your vote - 03/08/02 09:59 PM

Come on now, do you really think that a Wacko would stuff a ballot box? You sir have earned every vote you have received! Unlike #5, Wacko's don't have to resort to underhanded methods. We obtain our recognition the old fashion way, we earn it.
Glad to see the administrator caught on and was able to deal with it.

Of course we voted for the best picture (even without knowing who the photographer was)!

Great photo Sean!

Is a commanding lean anything like a commanding lead?

Re: Cast your vote - 03/23/02 04:35 AM

Well I was below deck with Sean when was taking his photos in Chicago and he did seem to be tilting a bit. Maybe it was the lighthouse that was cock-eyed and he was trying to straighten it up?

Thanks for all the votes, unless there is a sleeper out there it looks like the photo will win this months contest. If you haven't voted this is the last day to do so.

Thanks again!
