I don't have a Q, so I'm going to jump in with R. I've been waiting for this one!!

Rock of Ages, Lake Superior, Michigan. Also known as the spark plug. What a trip that was!!!

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z, Part 4!! - 02/14/06 01:31 PM

S is for Staberhuk Lighthouse on the Island of Fehmarn off the German Baltic Coast

The lighthouse is built from two sorts of bricks. The yellow ones were not hard enough to withstand the weather conditions, so on the weather side they were replaced with harder red bricks.

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z, Part 4!! - 02/15/06 04:59 PM

Thanks Jen. I would guess that the lights out in the water would need continual paint touch-ups with the conditions that they endure.

Jen,

Gather you did not see that your photo did not post--only a red "x" appeared in the left corner. That was what my comment was referring to (prior to Paul's correcting the flaw), not your actual photo which is, as they all are, gorgeous.

No posts in FOUR days?! Where did everyone go?

I'm skipping U and V, because I think we're out. There are some W's still out there, but I don't have one. X, Y, and Z are out as well. SO, I'm starting over!

Ashland Harbor Breakwater, Wisconsin. Taken on a boat trip during the month long Lighthouse Celebration in September every year.

What's happening with Margret's pictures? They were there when she posted them; they've disappeared and been replaced with that dreaded red x in the right corner.
