Lighthouses from A-Z

Lighthouses from A-Z - 01/29/06 10:06 PM

This type of thread was started on another forum I am a member of, so I thought it was time to liven up the Photography forum here. Let's see if we can complete the lighthouse alphabet from A-Z. It gives us a chance to see some other member's work, and I'm sure Margret and Iris can help fill in the harder ones with their European lights. I'll start with the letter "A", Admirality Head, Washington. One of my lighthouses from my big trip I haven't shared yet. I was there about 45 minutes or so before sunset, and the lighting was AWESOME!

Dave, wouldn't that be a P for Point??
Posted By: Dave H

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 01/31/06 09:34 PM

Discount all the "points" and such as far as I'm concerned. That's the way things have been done in the past. If not, you would have a zillion "Point Something" lights. Just think of it as Conception Point....
Posted By: WackoPaul

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 01/31/06 09:40 PM

If Points don't count, how about Capes???
Posted By: Dave H

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 01/31/06 11:29 PM

IMO, "Cape" falls into the "and such" catagory. More of a descriptor than a name. It's Jen's thread, so I'll defer to her call. My thinking is that treating names like Cape and Point as a pass-thru opens the possibilities, lets more people share pictures.

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 02/01/06 12:52 AM

So "D" is it?

Delaware Breakwater East

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 02/01/06 12:59 AM

"Cape" and "Point" may be used either as a letter or ignored in favor of the lighthouse. For example, Cape Arago cound be used under "C" or "A".

Let's keep this to one post per person per day, and no back to back posting. That way, those Wackos that log in only every few days can participate as well (those of us that sometime visit here multiple times a day, like me!). laugh

I vote for two posts per person per day and no back to backs, since this is aimed at me, Jen!!

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z - 02/01/06 04:22 AM

Ok, I'm not getting in the middle of this fight. Dave is the one that suggested one post per day per person, it sounded like a good idea, so I tossed it in there. So that no one is happy, let the only rule be no back to back posting. I think we are all adults here, so use your wise and sounds judgement on how many posts you want to make. cool The intent behind this thread was to increase posts since it's been really slow around here lately!
