Monhegan Island Lighthouse

Monhegan Island Lighthouse - 08/29/03 01:38 PM

We went to Monhegan Island, Maine which is 10 miles off of Port Clyde (Marshall Point Lighthouse). It is an amazing little island. With about 50 homes, 4 trucks and lots of unspoiled nature. The lighthouse is at the highest point on the island.

For info on the island --- http://www.briegull.com/Monhegan/whatosee.htm

Close up of the tower and lantern room. Monhegan Island Lighthouse used to have a second order Fresnel Lens.

Currently powered by solar panels.

The quaint oil house, that doubled as an immaculate bathroom!

Another view.

One of the many artists on the island.

More photos to come!

Thanks for taking us to Monhegan Roxie. Maybe I can visit there when I visit. Is there a ferry service?
