Help me here... The camera is attached to a kite then the kite is flown over the area to be photographed? Those pics are definitely different and very interesting. I would imagine one kite crash and you've lost some serious money.

Its not so uncommon evidently. It called KAP. Kite Aerial Photography.

There are complicated setups...and then very simple ones. There's a handkerchief one. Anyone else thinking of lighthouses where this would have made a very big difference? The offshore lights in Maryland come to my mind.
