Carolina Blue Skies.....

Carolina Blue Skies..... - 03/23/03 09:43 PM

Well, although I've been accused of not being around here much, Bud, doesn't seem like much of anyone else has been lately either...

In my spare time today, I had the slide scanner working away while I was doing a few other things around the house. I ended up selecting and scanning 27 Cape Lookout photos from my collection of several hundred photos of that light. I've assembled the first group of photos into a new Cape Lookout Boardwalk Gallery. For those of you who haven't visited Cape Lookout yet (I assume we all will eventually! smile ) to protect the fragile barrier island ecosystem and grasses, the NPS has built some boardwalks that cross the island from near the pier where the NPS launch moors to the lighthouse and across the island to the Atlantic Beaches. The last time I shot the boardwalks, I had the entire island to myself for the entire day... true peace and solitude! I think some of the contenment that I felt and experienced that day is conveyed by the empty stretches of the boardwalks in the photos in this new gallery on my website.

Here's a teaser photo for some of what's to come in another Cape Lookout gallery presently being built... I like the reflection of Lookout in the still, predawn waters of Core Sound and the little reflections of the light in the lantern room reflecting on the water.

Here's the link to first of the new galleries:

I haven't added the image description pages but wanted to give folks access to the gallery page at least now that it has been uploaded.

The Cape Lookout boardwalk gallery linked from the previous post is completely finished and I've started uploading the next one....sunrises and sunsets. The main page of this gallery is uploaded and viewable at the following address:

Here's one of the shots of the sunset taken there looking west across Core Sound the last time I camped there in 1999. The clouds that the sun was dropping into were a thunderstorm building that pounded Cape Lookout for several hours in the middle of the night that night.

I hope you all enjoy it when if you have the time to look it over...

Wow! The water is so calm in that first photo. I have never visited Cape Lookout or any east coast lighthouses...maybe some day. I love the Cape Lookout Boardwalk photos!

You know, Gary, more of us could get some of those sunrise pictures if sunrise just wasn't so blasted early in the day!

I noticed how you and John generously graced we who DID get up so blasted early over in Door County last June with your presence for those shoots, Dave!

I'm glad you all are enjoying the Cape Lookout photo galleries! I spent a little time this afternoon working on the Cape Lookout Galleries again. If you click the following link, it will take you to the original first gallery.

http://66.216.33.125/atlanticcoastgallery/lookout/lookout.html

At the bottom of that page is a button pad that will take you from there to any of the five new Cape Lookout galleries... OK, so I was REALLY busy!

Gallery #2 is an extension of the first gallery
Gallery #3 is boardwalks
Gallery #4 is sunrises and sunsets
Gallery #5 is "portraits"
Gallery #6 is "landscapes"

If galleries 5 and 6 sound cryptic, the explanation is on the pages...

I think that about finishes the Cape Lookout gallery construction for a while until I can get back down there again to shoot out on the island.
