Dave,

There'll be a new list as soon as this go 'round is completed--"O" through "Z", so you might want to edit out the list posted above. I'll keep track as we go along, posting an updated listing at the end of each round of "A" to "Z", if that's OK with everyone.

Re: Lighthouses from A-Z Part 2 - 02/02/06 06:57 AM

If this goes to a third round, Sandy, I think it needs to go in a whole new thread. 50 posts, each containing an image, can slow down a person's computer especially if they are not on a high speed dial up. In that case, I would say a combined listing would be the way to go. Something like:

Light 1, light 1b
Light 2, light 2b

i.e., first round followed by second round on same line so folks can easily see what lights were used.

All this is IMO - Jen's call as to how she want's to do it. I think it's great that folks are able to share pictures, and I hope some of our less frequent posters pop in and post a picture. There are lots of great photographers in our midst.

Piedra Blancas CA

While not overly tall (and without lantern room at the present), this light has to have the widest tower base in any light I have visited. Even makes the tall coastal lights on the east coast seem to have a small diameter.

Wow, Margret - your friends' site on European lighthouses is fantastic!

I really liked the page showing the various flash patterns and the maps (only looked at the Netherlands so far) with coordinates, links from the map and more.

Their pages on "heights" and "coordinates" are very clever!

I'll be back to study it more.
