Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorn! - 03/04/08 07:19 PM
Good Tuesday Afternoon!
If anyone tells Harry I posted this, I will deny it! If someone does call or write Harry and I find out who the individual is - you will be sorry! "Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorned!"
Here is your opportunity to help me! Harry will be here , in about two weeks to begin the formation of the 2009 line. I usually have a list of Rep requests but will not have one for 2009. So I need your help!
I will not go to the Keeper's Forum to read ong lists. If you email me with your recommendations - FOUR to a Collector of Lights you would like to see in our 2009 lineup! I'll do the hommework and research the history and make a presentation!
I need the name of the Lighthouse and the state it is in! Remember NO MORE than FOUR per Collector and it has to be emailed to tconstantino@harbourlights.com and yes, there will be a prize for those whose recommendations become reality!
Remember no more than four and to my office email tconstantino@harbourlights.com
Here is something to consider - this Light(s) has to have universal appeal not just your personal interest but the interest of the collecting community!

I like this! This is a great idea Tony!
I'm sure you will get a tremendous response from the HL collectors.
I emailed you the following:
(1) -
Mark Island Light, Winter Harbor, ME (Near Acadia National Park, and Featured in a David Armstrong Painting)
(2) -
Isle Au Haut, ME (In Acadia National Park, and Bed & Breakfast)
(3) -
Egg Rock, ME (Near Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor)
(4) -
Bear Island, ME (In Acadia National Park, and Featured in a Winnie Smart Painting)
Thanks for giving us collectors the opportunity!! YEAH..........

If you do take the time to think about this and to send Tony your 4 suggestions, you might include one or two links to show him the light and a little history. One or two sentences about the light might also be helpful, but knowing Tony, brevity will get you a lot of points.

Re: Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorn! - 03/04/08 09:19 PM
I love this idea!
My four suggestions are:
Rockland Harbor Southwest Light, Me.
Point Cabrillo, Ca.
Heron Neck Light, Me.
Bear Island Light. Me.
I would like to see all these lights, with keeper's houses, done as limited editions.

It is nice to post the four favorites on the Forums. But remember that Tony is only reading the lighthouse list that is sent to him. So if you post here, remember to also send the list to Tony.

Wouldn't I love the job to go photograph the AK lights!!!! ???!!!!!!! YES YES YES ....

I initiated an idea last year with Tony. How cool it was to see it become reality. That was the Pacific Coast stamp set (LLOM) that was manufactured along with it's own wooden case.
So go for it. Tony listens and Harbour Lights listens!

Wonder if / when we get told which if any of our suggestions have "made it" into the selection.

Think positive and look at it this way. You have less than a year to wait to get the answer to your question. Then you might really be surprised to find out the one of your choices was planned for 2008 release.

Good Thursday Morning!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I hope I did acknowledge everyone -I was a bit overwhelmed!
There are seveal voices, I am still waiting to hear from! Dave H. -Rip and Sharon, Paul Brady, no suggestions from the Forum Moderator? Where are you Daniel? Rich Felter? Where are the McBees? Bob Ott?
I guess what I am trying to say, this is an inclusive request, I had a blast reading the eMails! I got some GREAT pictures and some even better links (Thanks, Dave)
I was a bit concerned that there were no recommendations for a lighthouse in the great State of Nebraska! Just kidding!
There is still time!
The rules are simple no more than (4) recommendation adressed to tconstantino@harbourlights.com
On a personal note, I ocassionaly lecture at Saint John's Seminary in Boston. Needless to say our men in training have a difficult time with instructions! Our Collectors followed the rules perfectly!

I'm rarely accused of conventional thinking. Here are links to the four lights I suggested to Tony. Who knows, new markets? Lots of discussion here about the geographies of these lights? Could happen. Besides, at least a couple of these could use the help that publicity might provide.
Ham's Bluff - US Virgin Islands

Re: Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorn! - 03/07/08 06:09 AM
Here's mine:
-Cape Poge, MA. Something gives me a "Choppy" feeling, so this could maybe round out the Vineyard. The guylines could be a neat addition, too.
http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=623 -Spring Point Ledge, ME. As mentioned by several on the CF already. HL doesn't seem to have any caissons not retired right now. Also has the "Portland potential" for sales.
http://www.springpointlight.org/ -Doubling Point, ME. Representative of the Kennebec River lights...any of the others could hold as much water as a suggestion.
http://lighthouse.cc/doubling/ -Point Cabrillo, CA. Beautiful light, great setting. Popular amongst lighthousers and "laypeople."

New York
Oregon
Wisconsin
Michigan

Re: Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorn! - 03/07/08 08:31 PM
1. Cape San Blas Florida
A standard skeleton lighthouse with two interesting keepers houses. The one has been restored but the other one is in bad shape. I think Harry could take advantage of the rustic looking house and make it look very interesting. The renovated house also is a neat looking building and would add a lot to the figurine. Note the palm trees in pictures which always add character to a lighthouse sculpture.
Cape San Blas Florida 2. Sabine Pass, LA
Lighthouse that looks like a rocket ship from Buck Rodgers.
Sabine Pass, LA Had a very unusual lighthouse keepers house that is now gone.
Sabine Pass keepers house More
More Sabine Pass Lighthouse 3. Aransas Pass (Lydia Ann), TX
Arkansas Pass Lighthouse, TX Blow-up of Arkansas Pass Lighthouse 4. Southwest Pass Entrance, LA
It would be neat to add a Helicopter on the pad for a L.E.
Southwest Pass, La

Re: Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorn! - 03/11/08 05:06 AM
Tony had told me that I could not submit any suggestions since I have had the privilege to pick more lights to be made than any other collector. However, since he called me out, here are some suggestions:
Let's start with a somewhat local light for me:
Cooper\'s Light . Here is
another page Then there is the
"now" version of the lights they place on cribs formerly occupied by classic lights....
Next would have to be the ever popular
D9 lights, often referred to as "sewer pipe lights". If Harry feels that there should be a little more color in the light,
no problem .
Lastly, how about a series of privies of the USLHS? Many of them on the GL are of very nice brick construction (hence the expression "built like a brick ****house...."). There could be models
plain or
fancy . I see these as being done more in the LL size.
Don't forget to get your suggestions in to Tony by Tuesday.

Havana Castillo del Morro, Cuba
www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/cuba/cuba_photos_1.html Haut-fond Prince, Canada

Hope these work. I put an extra "s" in the lightouse depot link and don't know what happened with the Cuba one. They probably won't pick one from Cuba for obvious reasons but I had to try since my grandmother was from Havana!
