What do you all think about this idea:

Harbour Lights lets the collectors vote on a lighthouse to do every year and markets it as the 2000 Collectors Choice Light similar to society and christmas issues. The lighthouse with the most votes would be produced. That way we could have the same treat mombo had when she got to pick a lighthouse to have sculpted.

Although this would cause some campaigning I suspect among forum members for particular lights close to their hearts. We don't need that now do we??

Just an idea folks, tell me what ya think

This is already done, kind of. Harbour Lights pays close attention to the requests of its collectors. Formalizing it might be fun, though. Maybe one Primary vote per Society Member to form a list of nominee lights, then one vote per Member to elect a single piece for the year. I like it. However, the lead time on a new piece might be so long that we'd need to vote two years in advance. To make things interesting, maybe production could be limited to one per voting Member. Want more HL-dot-com site traffic? Maybe even limit voting to an on-line ballot. That would keep the edition size down a little, too. I haven't given any of this much thought, so feel free to shoot it full of holes and kick it around here. (As if an invitation is needed! LOL)
